Just found this bright pink lump just above my cats paw. It appears to have broken through as there are bits of skin around it. She has another lump on her other paw in the same place as well but this one is black and doesn't appear to have broken through yet. Am making an appointment with the vet ASAP but until then, is there anything I can do or any way I could know what the lumps are?

I dont know the official name for it, but cats have an extra little 'pillow' up a bit on each of their their paws. I dont know what they're for but i know its normal. Usually the pillows are the same color as the pillows on the bottom of the paw. This one looks either inflammed, or its still growing. How old is your cat? If its a kitten, its probably just those pillows growing. Otherwise it could maybe be a bug bite, or maybe a reaction to something?

Thank you for replying- ah I was unaware of those parts above the cats paw. My cat is actually 8 years old so they wouldn't be growing but I am hoping, as you say , that they are just inflamed rather than anything more harmful. Vet appointment on Friday so will find out then. Thank you again!
