It must be lovely to see the wildlife passing through Were you hiding when you took this photo? I used to live in a house with woods out the back and we used to get deer comming to the back fence but they would run if you tried to approach them. We don't have racoons here so I wouldn't know how brave they are.
How sweet. Their little faces.

KittyWhiskers - I may ask my husband to help me build one.   We are currently adding a patio to the back of our house and you've given me an idea.  Maybe next year, we'll add a lid and walls.  Our inside cats will love it!  I can see myself having coffee or tea while sitting out there with the kitties. Our neighbors think we're crazy, too but they also know who to call when there's a stray cat in the neighborhood!

Norachan - I've said before how lucky your kitties are.  They are going to enjoy all that space.  I love the woods - the tranquility, the peacefulness.  Another slice of kitty heaven!

Bonepicker - is your enclosure surrounded by fence?  Mine has a lid on it - the same wire as the side but I still find birds, moles, voles and even a squirrel inside.  The cats love watching the rabbits, too, although none has been daring enough to get close to the enclosure.  There is one squirrel that taunts them - it is actually quiet funny to watch them watch him.  He sits on a tree branch above the little barn and scolds them.  One of the cats, Alfred goes up on the roof and sits in wait.  The other cat, Schofield, mostly ignores him but I see him plotting sometimes.  I feel badly for that squirrel if he ever slipped!

I read somewhere that basil would keep flies away and was startled at how well it worked.  The mint keeps the raccoons away from the enclosure but I am going to have to add some to my trash cans!

Oh, I thought that your cats ate it, silly me. No wonder I had not heard that before.
We have cat grass in pots for them to munch.

I just remembered. One of your cats is de clawed isn't he? If your garden is not fenced in you should really be keeping him inside. He woudn't be able to defend himself if he got into trouble if he is roaming.

Just a little friendly advice.

He does not go out. I fished him out of a drainage ditch as a tiny kitten, he has not been out since. Only my female with claws and my feral family are outside. My female goes out 3 hours every morning and that's it, never at night. She goes two houses down visits their two cats and comes back.

I would love that enclosure for my two yorkie mixes. I have to walk them on a leash because they are escape artists. Both my cats are feral, so they lived outside before coming to me so it is now impossible to keep them in.

Oh, by this I assumed they went outside??
