We do not have a lot of choices for cat (or dog) food around where I live. We have an IFA store and we get their brand cat (and kitten) food. I noticed that their poops are huge (my older ones)! I mean, they seem like the size of a small dogs! Could it be the food? I pay $28 for 20lbs. When I was asking the store they told me that was the best the carried, thats why it was so expensive. They carry blue buffalo, which I get for my dogs, but they do not sell the cat version. We have this store and walmart... anything else is about 2 hours away. I have looked online, but the shipping is outrageous!

Oh, and we do add some canned mixed in with the hard, which is the same brand.

i think it could be that the food they're eating may be causing the poops to be bigger -- more "waste", maybe from fillers in the food.

i live in a rural area and don't drive. i order my cats foods (both canned and dry foods) online. it gets delivered to my door by UPS or Fedex. i use petco and petflow to order my cat food from, and i make sure to avoid shipping costs. at petflow i have an auto-ship set up, so all my orders that are $49 or more ship for free. at petco, i make sure i order enough to meet their minimum amount to qualify for free shipping. this might be something for you to consider. there are other pet food sites, like chewy, pet food direct, and others. it may take some looking around online, but i'm pretty sure you should be able to find a reasonable price, get it shipped to you for free or for a flat rate, and be able to order from a pretty wide selection of brands/flavors.

When you say the poops are huge do you mean it has a bigger circumference?

I would recommend an all wet food diet. A meaty diet from protein from an animal not fish. Avoid veggies, fruits, grains, less to no carbohydrates.

Dry food lacks the moisture and the nutritional value so I'd avoid it. It's far from what nature intended for cats to eat.

I find Doggiefood.com much cheaper in their prices and yes they sell cat foods as well. Most of the pet food website have free shipping if you order $49 or more worth of food.
