What's something cool that you made for your cat instead of buying it?

Wow I love your litter box idea! I am definitely going to try this as well because my kitty’s love to scratch all the crystals out of the box for some reason.
and that tree hous is so awsome can only imagine my 2 kittens on it.
we also made a scratcing pole thing, will post a pic later today.
@Wanja  ,   Oh thank you ..  It is pretty easy make .. We had the little doors in the front  but had to cover them cause the dog kept getting in    but  I think the cats actually like the door in the end better ..

Oh yeah and they  love their  tree house . It is all scratched up ..

It will definitely work for my dog as well maybe I must add a food corner to. Thank you for the inspiration.

My one kitty is a very sensitive litter box user, one of those I can’t move the litter box a cm and she is upset, just hope that this will not also bother her.

You are welcome ..  Yeah , the end door works out well for us .. It keeps the big dog out ..  Our cats do not like  the traditional covered littler box . They got very stressed when I tried one . That was the inspiration for the making of this new box .. They took to it right away with no problems ..

If you do make one for your cats just leave your sensitive kittys box as is  and maybe she will decide to use the new   box on her own ..

We didn't make this but my boyfriend did find it at a yard sale. Someone else made it... does that count? LOL

It's an old eMac hollowed out with a cushion in it!

That's totally awesome! Definitely counts! Repurposed materials are awesome. I'd love to see more of this. Maybe you can paint this.

Really excellent ideas everybody! ..

So far I have made a single post cat tree that Maggie uses mostly, and want to do another much larger one with different perches based on the Amarkat trees.

@tinn   you are brilliant!  Sales of cardbaord scratch pads are now going to go down because of your wonderful post.

Was it a real pain getting it to wind up tight enough?

Thank you so much, mservant mservant ! :) It wasn't so bad getting it to coil, the very center is the hardest, but I found if you grab an end with each hand, pull it tight, and run it down, over the end of a table (kind of hard to describe...) it starts to kind of curve on it's own, then it's easier! Then I just used packaging tape to connect the pieces to the scratcher one at a time. I was actually thinking of trying to sell them on Etsy...

Here's a spare bedroom we turned into our cats room. They spend hours playing in their room and chasing each other. They especially love going through the tube, which is just a big cardboard tube from Home Depot where it was used to hold merchandise in the lumber area. We put two tubes together and carpeted it along with the rest. We build steps against the wall so they can climb up to the top shelf and higher perch. Outside the bedroom window we keep birdfeeders for endless hours of entertainment. It took my husband and I a while to get this put together but we've had it for years and have had several cats enjoy it during their lifetime. Our four cats now love it.

Your cats are so lucky @Hey Jude!  I  can't let Mouse see this because he would want to move home.

I feel like such a rubbish kitty minder now, looking through this thread and seeing all the awesome things people are making!  I really should be making more of an effort and start to get more creative.

I took an idea from earlier on someone posted. I just hollowed out an old tube tv I've had since I was 5. Now it's a cute little kitty cave!
