I'm trying to get some tomato juice out of my DD's white patriotic t-shirt she wore for Memorial day.  Normally I would have taken it off her; but we were having a BBQ.  (To her credit; she didn't get any ketchup OR baked beans on herself. lol)

I soaked it in OxyClean for DAYS and then washed it like normal but we still have some yellow spots.  I've never cleaned with bleach so that makes me nervous (like do I need to worry about bleach residue on the next load of things if I try using some?)

Any advice or tricks?  It's still wet from the wash so I'm going to go soak it in more oxyclean for now.

What I often do is cover the spot in dishwashing liquid, full strength, rub it in and let it sit like that for a few days and then wash. As far as bleach, I get paranoid about that as well. I will do a load of whites with bleach and then wash towels next just in case there is an issue.

time, patience, club soda... I once got a bloodstain out of my bed sheets by putting club soda on it (twice a day for about a week)
Huh.  I've just used Peroxide for blood stains.  It saved an entire outfit last year when DH had a little accident with the lawn mower.

This.  And I double rinse towels anyway, and one of those rinses involves vinegar to "cut" residue.

There's a product called M30 Stain Remover that I swear by, you can find it in some dollar stores.  I've got transformer grease out of a car's upholstery with it and I've gotten blood out of pigskin leather using it.  It usually works best on fresh stains though.  Drying can "set" stains.

Blood stains you soak in cold water.
Deciding once you to my heels with the knife was a big big mistake. Both feet!
I ended up at the nurse but before I could go I had to stem the blood with plenty of towels. I then had to try wrap them to get to the nurse.
I put all the towels in cold water as I had been taught by my mum when I was a teen, and when I limped back hey presto all the blood was gone.

Do not use bleach. It'll leave a patch. Can you get a spray called Vanish 7 days? It's spray you spray on the stain and it can be left fir 7 days before washing. Of course you can leave it one day. So far it's removed all my stains.

ah, well, cold water works when they are fresh

in my case it was a bad (embarrassed to say, huge) road rash on my left side. I only get them when I'm out running in short pants... So half my bed was bloody as I discovered the morning after... and of course dried blood. I came across the club soda trick, tried it out, and it worked.

Didn't tell my Mum because she'll just lecture me again about running long distance in general, and in short pants in particular

But next time try the cold water. It can't hurt and you never know.

This product is Canadian, but I love it ever since it got fuchsia stains out of my fave teeshirt when all else had failed. Actually going to write a review for it now!

I always thought blood stains went into cold water too as hot will "cook" the blood and set the stain. Perhaps true of tomato too?

I have a combo method that has never failed to get a stain out yet. I use Shout gel with the brush at the top, work that stuff in really well and leave it for 24 hours or so. Then wash in the hottest water possible with Oxi-clean and detergent.

If the stain isn't gone the first time, let it air dry (no dryer or sun) and repeat. Even old blood comes out with this method.

You might try CLR... I've always thought that stuff seemed interesting, and plan on trying it whenever the above method doesn't work.
