So my Narcissa is having her first and last litter. Last night she had one kitten and then stopped. She has 3 in her tummy. She is in no distress, and she is nursing and caring for the one that was born. But its been almost 24 hours with no other ktten. They are moving and shes content and calm. But idk what to do til tomorrows vet visit. Any ideas!

Also, she has been bringing me the kitten. She either nurse, clean, or nap with the kitten against me.is this normal? She also refused to start nursing and pushing until i was right next to her? Help. Im so lost!

Hi Ambydawl,

A 24 hour break between kittens is quite normal. As long as you can feel them moving and the mother isn't in any distress there is no need to panic yet.

It sounds like she is really attached to you and wants you to keep her company while she goes through labour. Cats often get very affectionate while they are giving birth.

Just be with her if that is what she wants.

Good luck, keep us updated if anything changes.

If it is more than some discharge, more alike living blood, and more than a few drops, contact your vet...

We are saying assuring words, but the situations IS touchy!  And you must be vigilant.

*vibes!*

Does she still have just the one kitten. If so, maybe the vet needs to check her.

She had two more beautiful babies in the middle of the night. I went and checked then saw the new babies. And mommy is doing well.

Oh, that's good.

We were starting to get worried about her.

Is she done now or can you still feel another kitten moving inside her?

I was in tears most the night. But she ended up having two more. One was still born, and the 5th one was perfect. Theyre all the same size except the first born.

Shes a great mommy. She even meowed to get her nesk curtain open. I am so happy.

Thank you for the support every one.

I'm so sorry about the stillborn. These things happen, it can't be helped.

But four healthy kittens is very good. Let us see some pictures whenever you get time to take a few.

Keep us posted on their progress.

I already know my cat Narcissa has a huge attachment to me. Narcissa searches for me and follows me.

She had 4 beautiful kittens. But sometimes I want to say shes overwhelmed.

If more than one kitten is awake and making noise, shell meow at me until I help her with them.

But even weirder to me. She has me babysit when she just cannot take it. First she brought one, then another mewed and she brought me a second and third one. Then went off to play.

Is this even normal?

Its not the most common, but it surely happens their Mom, or the rescuer, is engaged into such a role as babysitter.  Also, remember, quite a few moms have their litters together.  Or they take help of some friend, or younger dotter, or - even the tom, their father is not unheard of.

Take it as an amusing experience!

Good luck!
