So about a week ago we decided to get a kitten. He is 5-6 weeks old. His name is Delco. We have another cat who has been by himself for about 4 1/2 months and at first Tigger (our other cat) would just hide or hiss at Delco. Now Tigger is coming out and looking and walking by him but not really playing at the moment. Tigger has started to puke. He acts just fine and he plays but not with Delco of course. Is it because Tigger is nervous of Delco?

So I have this 4 year old cat who all the sudden started puking. It looks like foam and it feels slimy. Yes I touched it when I was rinsing it off of my wash cloth. He doesn't puke much. Its like maybe like a quarter or two quarters in amount size. He hasn't really ate anything. He ate this morning and just a little after lunch. My mom thinks it could be something to do with him being very nervous, He is a very nervous cat. He is really scared of thunderstorms. We just brought in a 5-6 week old kitten into the house about a week ago. At first, Tigger (the cat that pukes) would just hiss and hide in the closet all day and come out at night when Delco (the kitten we just got) is in the bathroom. Tigger comes out now but still doesn't play with Delco. Delco just sneaks up and then Tigger just hisses. We don't know what is wrong with Tigger. He has puked a lot tonight. It's not a lot at a time but he has puked 3 or 4 times so far.

Small amounts of foam is excess stomach acid which is a symptom of a problem. It should be checked out. I think that if it was caused by stress in a stressful cat, it wouldn't have appeared suddenly.

Is he drinking? Make sure he is drinking and not dehydrated. Test for dehydration by lifting up the skin between his shoulder blades. If it falls back right away, your cat is currently not dehydrated, and you should try to get him to a vet tomorrow.

If it takes more than a second or two to fall back, your cat is dehydrated and should see a vet asap. Dehydration is serious.

If he's drinking but not eating, he still needs to go to the vet.

Sounds to be it is nerves. I would suggest trying Feliway plug in. It releases facial pheromones to help calm cats. I use this in my home as I am a cat foster Mom and own 3 forever cats.

But just to make sure I would check around the house for things Tigger may have gotten into... plants etc.

He is drinking a lot. Well not a lot but he is drinking a good amount. I don't think he is eating though. He is going to the vet tomorrow morning because my mom's boss through a fit so she had to push the vet visit to tomorrow. She said she's going tomorrow whether her boss likes it or not.

He is going to the vet tomorrow morning. There isn't really anything he can get into plus he knows better to not eat anything on the ground or anything. He's not really eating anything. He's drinking but not really eating anything. His stool seems just fine too. I just hope nothing is wrong with him because just about 4 months ago we had to let go my cat named Joey and we've had him for like 12 years. I don't want to loose another.

how long has tigger not been eating? cats must eat or they will become very ill.

that's good that you'll be taking tigger to see the vet tomorrow.

Yeah I really wished we could take him tonight. Now he kind of has a little blood in the vomit. He ate yesterday and I think just a little bit today but not much.

with symptoms like that and with tigger having not eaten much lately, i'd get him to an emergency vet.

while it could be gastro upset or pancreatitis (which can be serious too) or something else, the big fear (at least for me) is hepatic lipidosis (also known as fatty liver disease). hepatic lipidosis can be fatal. it doesn't take not eating or not eating much for long at all for a cat to develop hepatic lipidosis.

only a vet is able to diagnose what exactly is going on with your tigger.

Yeah, my mom said he hasn't eaten at all today. He drinks but not like all day. He drank a lot this morning. When he puked when my mom was around she said it was clear puke with some blood in it.

do you have any stage 1 meat (like chicken, turkey, beef, or ham) baby food in a jar? the kind that has only the meat, water, and some brands have cornstarch. like gerber or beechnut brands. that kind of baby food is very smooth and very easy on an upset kitty tummy. my snick has IBD flare-ups occasionally, and the meat baby food is what we always start with so she can eat the food that is gentlest on her tummy and easy to digest.

if he's not wanting to try to eat the baby food, try smearing a bit on his front paw. cats tend to lick it off that way. if you can get him to eat it, then give him very small servings very often -- like about every hour. if he hasn't been eating much and has had a very upset gastro system, eating the small amounts more often will be easier on his gastro system.

I also was looking up somethings it could be and could it be cancer? Some symptoms said loss of appetite and blood in vomit. We really don't want to have to put him down because we love him plus he would be the second cat we would have put down this year. I really don't want us to have to do it.

try not to get ahead of things. many or most cat parents do the same, look up symptoms on the internet and find that the symptoms could mean some horrible disease. this is why we see the vet, because many illnesses have symptoms in common with other illnesses and only our vet is able to diagnose which illness our cat has.

try to keep your boy as comfortable as you can tonight, then get him to your vet's first thing tomorrow. even if you have a vet appointment for later in the day, you can call the vet's and explain the symptoms and ask if they might be able to see your tigger earlier.

try to focus on keeping tigger as comfortable as possible overnight, until you can get him to see the vet tomorrow. keep him warm enough, bring him a dish of fresh water to have near him. pet him and give him cheek scritches.

i'm going to ask a moderator to combine the two threads you've got about tigger into one thread. this will be easier for people to follow what is happening, and you won't need to repeat yourself in answers for two threads.

Okay, and now he's not eating or drinking. He hasn't used the litter box either and were worried. He goes to the net this morning and I just don't want to have to put him down.

You need to stop focusing on not wanting to put him down fact is you may not have to and you are upsetting yourself which will be effecting him also. Focus on keeping him comfortable try syringing water into his inner cheek so that hes getting some fluids and water down some of his wet food to try and get extra fluids in him. There's no sense worrying what you may have to do or researching symptoms as it will just make you more upset in the long run. I hope the vet can get to the bottom of what is wrong with tigger.

He went to the vet this morning and he is just fine. He has kind of like the stomach flu and a infection in his bowls (however you spell it) and he's been put on some medication and he is just fine:)
