I have a friends who also has two cats, like me, and she has two neutered males who are generally very good with using the litter box, but there were times when they would use her living room rug instead. She has cleaned the area many many times, and used many different remedies to remove the smell, because now the boys are tempted to use that area if the litter box is too full while she's gone, or if there is any delay in cleaning it at all. Does anyone know how to remove the smell? I know this is a common problem, for dogs too, but any home or store remedies that have worked for anyone, let me know. I'll pass on the advice!!

Thanks,
Chele

Believe it or not, vodka works well. It will make her house smell like a bar at closing time for a couple of days, but it will get rid of the odor.

Thanks for all the advice! My friend made a spray bottle of Vodka and vanilla and used it in her car too, I guess there was an accident in there! Good thing she masked the vodka smell, if she had been pulled over, the cops would have questioned that one!!
