Is my cat pregnant?

Hello! Last April 20, I left my (presumeably) female lynx point siamese cat in a friend's house. We were trying to mate her with her orange (not sure with the correct term since I know next to nothing about cat breeds) persian cat. She left both of them in one large room for 3 days and gave my cat back.

It's been a month now and I'm still unsure if she's pregnant or not. How would I exactly know? Before all of this, she can't even finish 1/4 cup of her food in one feeding. Now, she can finish 1/2 cup and sometimes she asks for more. Aside from that, I can't really notice any other change with her. She still likes to cuddle and as far as I can tell, her nipples aren't enlarged/pinkish.

I live in a rural town and the nearest vet is 2 towns away so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If the nipples hadnt got pinkish, you cant know.   Someone very skilled at palpating could probably feel the foetus, if not today so soon.  but you arent, and it seems you dont have nearby anyone who is good at this.

The somewhat better appetite is perhaps an indicium.

But the answer is for now, you cant know without more indicies.  Especielly as not all cats get pinkish.   You must wait and see.

May I ask, why are you wanting to have a litter with her, with a non pointed cat at that?

the kittens will not be points, and they wont be longhaired.

If you want the experience of taking care of small kittens, you can surely cooperate with some rescue group nearby, or some shelter.

Or even, the high of it all: take a high preg or mom with small kittens, from the death row in a high kill shelter. Typically it is the county shelter...    These cats know their fate awaiting, and they know to show their gratitude...

Good luck!  @vipn

Well then I should wait for at least 2 weeks more? If by that time she still doesn't have that 'baby' bump, will it confirm she's not really pregnant?

That friend is the only one I know who has a cat which is... not a stray cat. Not really interested in the kitten's appearance; I just want to have more cats to play with. :) Since we're on the topic of pointed kittens and whatnot, which breeds do you recommend my cat to mate with in the future? I don't really get a lot of cat terms so if you'll explain everything, that'll be great!

Thanks for replying!

Hi and welcome!
I'm not sure you will get the answer you're looking for. I think most here would recommend that you get your cat spayed and if you want kittens in your life to love and play with to go to your local shelter or rescue group and adopt some. Spring and summer are kitten season so the shelters and rescues will have plenty to choose from. I know it's not the same as having your girl give birth to them but you will be saving some lives. Just something to think about.

If you want a point, you must get a mate who is point too.  Or at least, a known point carrier (child of a point, or himself got pointed kittens).  If the mate is a point, all kittens will be points.  If mate a carrier, half of them will be points, rest carriers.

The breed doesnt matter very much, as without papers, you must count your  old siamese look alike as a domestic short hair point.

But,  as you dont fancy yourself a breeder, but you talk about kittens to play with.

What I really suggest you do spay her, asap or when you are sure there are no kittens / or kittens weaned if she got kittens.

And you

a) adopt such a high preg from a high kill shelter mentioned above

b) or cooperate with some shelter, and are foster home for their high pregs / moms with kittens.

I tell you, THIS is a very rewarding experience!   And also, a by God praiseworthy deed!

Wirgin Mary and the Jesus child will be smiling happily and approvingly at you!

(nay, Im not ironic.  My childhood was in a Catholic country, so this picture of  Gods Mother and the little Jesus child is still highly alive in my head).

Good luck!

@Kat0121, @StefanZ
As much as I want to adopt from shelters, the nearest one is probably towns away as I haven't even heard of one here. You might be thinking that I live in a mountain or something but actually, I really do. Haha.

If she indeed got pregnant, what would the kittens look like? The mate looks like this

They will  look more like the father than the mother, as they cant be points (unless he is a carrier).

He looks like a persian, even a really decent looking persian!

Still, try and find some shelters nearby.  You can perhaps drive there?  (or ask you mom / boyfriend drive if you are underage).   Everyting under two  hours should be OK - ESPECIELLY  if you do live in a lonely place.

I remember, when I was living in a town in northest sweden, they drove 120 kilometres just to eat a pizza in the next town Kiruna, like nothing...    :)   Of course, riding in steady 60 mhp, the drive took them less then 2 hours including finding parking.

If no one else, your county has surely a short time shelter for found cats, or "arrested" cats.  such shelters are typically high kill shelters. Like, if nobody ask in a week, off they go.

Phone to the clerk office in your county and ask.

Also, some shelters are willing to help with transport of their kittens, if they adoption home is serious and seems to be good.   So for example in Sweden, Kattkommano Syd is known for it.   they have their cats onlie with pics...

Just to mail or phone, and ask and discuss.   some will say flat no, others will say  perhaps.

If black cats are OK for you, ask for a blackie.  They are more difficult to adopt out, and thus - the shelter will perhaps be a little more cooperative then otherwise.

I will try to find one! My father has adopted some stray cats when I moved out for college but there seem to be no more of them on our streets so he definitely won't be against in adopting one, maybe two.

Thank you so much for your quick replies!
