Hello! I'm Becky, 24 years old and originally from England but now living in Seoul, South Korea.

I initially intended on just living here for a year teaching English, but soon realised that this country felt like home. And what home is complete with a companion kitty! Though I have had a family cat for a few years at home, he was always primarily my mother's responsibility having belonged to and cared for my late grandmother prior to that, so despite having kitty experience, I have been shocked at how daunting the idea of caring for a new kitten was! I have been spending a great deal of time researching and gathering cat supplies recently in a bid to overcome this.

Anyway, for the past 5 days I have been a new cat mummy to my little Turkish Angora boy, Biscuit. He is wonderful, energetic and affectionate and his hobbies include chasing after nothing and tangling his paws up in my hair and sleeping there. He is also (as far as I know), very big for his age and seems very healthy, eating and drinking well. He really is perfect in every way and it makes me so happy after having been alone in this foreign country to have a companion who seemed to truly take to me straight away, spending his first night here on the pillow next to me after deciding nowhere else was good enough!

He is absolutely perfect but I am about 99% sure he is deaf (he has never once reacted to any sound since I have had him, not even an ear twitch). I heard this was common in blue-eyed white-haired cats, or odd-eyed cats on the side of the blue eye, but Biscuit's eyes are both bronze. Of course, I don't mind this, but it does make me sad for him since he is currently very needy and cries every time he cannot see me. It makes me sad that I can't call out to him and reassure him. I also have worries that it might be a little harder to train him, for example telling him 'no' when he starts running around my bed at 4am! Does anybody have any advice for caring for a deaf kitty? He will be a house cat, since in Korea there are just two types of cats: house cats, or strays.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on! Lovely to meet you all!

Pictures so SWEET, I had to check my blood glucose levels!
OMG, he's beautiful! I wish I could snuggle with him.

Welcome to TCS, Becky!

OMG, cutest kitten ever. Seriously. I can't show these to my daughter, she will make me print them out.
