Found this on Facebook. It is so sad. Just makes you want to hug your kitties even tighter!

Hi everyone,
My name is (was) DUSTY and I'm at the Rainbow Bridge now ..
You see my humans didn't care enough about me to keep me safe.. They put me outside to fend for myself... I didn't know how to do that... And tonight I was hit by a tr...uck .. My back was broken along with my heart.. The truck broke my back BUT my family broke my heart the day they tossed me out into the big scary world.. I was a good kitty and didn't understand why my family (the people who were suppose to keep me safe ) just threw me away..
I thank all the good people who tried to help me, I really did feel YOUR love and kindness.
I just wish my family would have felt the same way cause if they did I would be curled up on a nice soft bed right now instead of the pain I had to suffer tonight before going to the Rainbow Bridge..
It's too late for me.. My life was too short, my suffering was unbearable even before I was hit by that truck BUT I do want to ask for one favor .
If you have 4-legged family members PLEASE, PLEASE keep them safely at home.. The world outside is just not a safe place for us... I KNOW, I LIVED IT AND DIED BECAUSE OF IT... Because I was thrown away..
So please don't let happen to your fur-babies what happened to me tonight..
Don't you all know how much we love you (our human parents) and depend on you to protect us and keep us safe..
TO MY FAMILY;
ALL I HAD EVER WANTED WAS FOR YOU TO LOVE ME...

Oh that is so sad : ( : (.
God people are such a disappointment but our furbabies never are. Even when acting up, they don't do it to be bad. They don't do things to piss you off.
Their hearts are pure!!!!
People want the perfect pet and God forbid they're not then it's time to REHOME!!!!
Well people do things intentionally to piss you off!
Our furbabies should rehome us but NO! They Love us
unconditionally even though MAN doesn't deserve it.
Our hearts are not pure we are so selfish. Our furbabies would never ABANDON us! Human beings are the only creature that tortures and kill for no reason except pleasure!
We suck!!!!

That's so sad, and so true too, unfortunately.

I run into abandoned cats all the time, they show up at my feeding spots with colonies of ferals I have tnr'd.

They show up at our high kill shelter, picked up by animal control and wait to be euthanized, it is just tragic how we treat these wonderful, innocent creatures.

So disappointed in the human race. Just a tragic shame.

I'm not ashamed to say that when I lived in  a house and saw a kitty roaming outside, that I would take it in, get it some vet help, and find it a nice home where the people would keep that kitty inside safe and warm.  I would pay for it to be fixed if needed, buy a carrier, a litter pan, litter and some toys and gift it all to the person who adopted the kitty from me.

There were 2 sisters that lived a couple streets away from me who did the same thing, and we often communicated with each other about cats we saw roaming, and we would often help each other out with expenses. They had a screened room built onto their house with access for the cats to go from house to screened room and back, and sometimes if I needed a place for a kitty to stay, they would take it in while we looked for a home.

I don't feel badly for having done this at all. I never advertised looking for an owner, but I did keep an eye out for posters. I figured if they didn't care enough to put a poster up looking for the kitty, they didn't deserve to have that kitty. I can honestly report that I never once saw a poster put up or a news paper ad for a lost cat that I had taken in.  And no, they weren't feral.

I've also taken dogs from people's yards who were chained up to short chains without water or food in extreme heat or cold.  And I don't feel badly for doing that either.

I live in an apartment and I've never seen a kitty roaming around my building.  If I did, I would certainly bring it inside and get it some medical attention before finding it a loving home.

The city is no place to let an animal run free; there are far too many dangers. They don't know to stop and watch for cars, or not to drink antifreeze, or that not all strangers feeding them are friendly and want the best for them.
