My 2yr old cat had kittens 7months ago and we kept one of the males. Now his mama just had another set of kittens today..Should I be worried.. He is 7months old, a wonderful and loving cat but will he try and hurt the kittens??? :(

I wouldn't leave them alone for aeveral months unattend. I have a 2 yr old male and a tiny kitten. I can't tell for sure if the male is playing or serious, but either way, he is certainly strong enough to injure the kitten as he likes to mouth the kittens head.

You should also think seriously about spaying and neutering everyone. The 7 month old will really calm down, especially towards kittens, once he's neutered and the mommy cat doesn't need to have more kittens.

Hi

@Ondine raises a good question/point.  Has the 7 months old been fixed yet?  It not this is going to be extremely important to a successful introduction.

Mom is able to get prego very soon, and yes, sons DO mate with their moms.

When they reach sexual maturity, they don't see them as family anymore.

Be sure to keep the appt for spay/neutering.

If the cats, mom and the tom, are good friend, there is very small risk of the tom hurting the kittens.  (among ferales its more common, yes).

The real risk is, the tom will want too play with the kittens, but not realising they are just tiny weak one, will play too rough...   So for example I saw a you tube film not long ago.

Mom, kittens, tom in the nest.  Mom happy allowing him be there.  He interested, and testing and trying to play with them..  And the play saw rough...   I would separate them if I were the owner.
