Hi everyone, I am new here and looking for some help. My cat, Hyde, is about 7 years old. He has always been a healthy cat, but December 3rd 2013, he began having some breathing complications. When he breathed out, you could here gurgling. He also seemed a bit labored in breathing. I took him to the vet, and they did X-rays, bloodwork, etc and it came back okay. They suggested an antibiotic shot, in which I agreed to. His health improved back to normal within a week. Today, I noticed the breathing complications have returned. Back with a wet, gurgling sound when breathing and coughing that is not productive, but sounds very wet. I am lower on funds than previously, and can't afford the vet this week, even though Hyde is a very important piece of my life. What are your thoughts on this situation?

He sounds like he needs that injection again, perhaps testing.  We can't treat your cat, he's sick and needs a vet.  I realize you are low on finds but the longer you delay treatment the more expensive it is likely to be.  Talk to your vet about costs, explain your situation and get an estimate before you begin treatment.

I would try to figure out what's going on.  It could be anything from his heart to asthma.  I'd hold off on the shot as it seems to just mask the real issue.  Something's happening to cause this and you need to work with the vet to figure it out.
