So, how often do YOU wash your jeans?

Is it more often than the CEO of Levis, because he doesn't:

http://www.kptv.com/story/25576617/stop-washing-your-jeans-levi-strauss-ceo-says#WNPoll139315

His comments have created a bit of a firestorm, with people extolling the virtues of washing or not washing your jeans.

I don't wash them after every wearing, but after every few. I don't normally wear them around the house and don't wear them for dirty work. I will usually wash no matter what if I've been near children with sticky fingers, some pets (I'm allergic), visiting someone in a hospital, etc.

How about you?

Obviously if I spill something on them, into the wash they go.  But like you, I try to wear them a few times then wash.  I'd like to know what he means by "spot cleaning" when it comes to things like the crotch of the pants and any other potentially moist areas.  And even then, your skin sheds cells regularly.  So, aside from crotches, I can't stop thinking about the skin shedding in legs of the jeans.  And the "commando" comments...yeah, I agree!

And some people are just nose deaf.

I usually wear then 2 or 3 days before they go in the washing machine.  His jeans have to smell.  I know if I get an extra day or so out of mine they begin to smell.

same here, I wear them a few times before going into the wash. Same thing with tops, I usually wear them a few times, unless I get really sweaty or dirty. No sense in washing something if it doesn't need to be

Every other time or maybe every 3 if light wear.  Never is just gross.  No good way around that.

Once a week (when I'm wearing them very day), unless they get extra dirty. I agree that denim doesn't need to be washed too often but never ever washing them is a little gross! I would even say once a month would be fine. . .but not never :lol3:.

Now it does kind of sound like he may hand-wash them, but I don't have time for that.

I probably wash mine every 4 weeks; but I only wear them for a few hours at a time.  I'm almost always home and here I'm in athletic pants of some kind.  I can't imagine never washing them!  Unless you replace them every few weeks!

I feel like I do laundry too often. I usually wear jeans two or three times before washing also. Other things I rarely wear more than once before washing, unless I just wore it around the house for a few hours. Only exceptions are schmancy clothes that require hand-washing. I just hang those up after I wear them and wait until they seem dirty to wash them. They don't get worn often, though.

My concerns are the smell from sitting or standing near/against questionable things in public. I can't guarantee they're clean in any way, and I spend lots of time on public transit when I go out, so that alone makes me feel like I should wash the jeans I've worn frequently whenever I do laundry. With that said, I tend to do laundry maybe once a month? lol.. I don't anticipate a CEO is being seated anywhere that looks or feels filthy though, in his defense.

If my jeans get dirty or sweaty (sweat is the worst!), they go right in the hamper. Like @MoochNNoodles, I don't stay dressed very long so I don't feel so bad rewearing jeans or other clothes if they've already been worn 3 or 4 times for half an hour at a time.

This reminds me of the survey that found most women wash their bras only once every six months.

I'm probably with you... once a week on average.  I ride horses and do other outdoorsy stuff, and they are both dirty and stinky after such events.  They definitely need some form of washing!

Once every 6 months for a bra???  Never saw that survey.  To close to armpits for me to not wash it a lot! more often.

I have 5 bras that I rotate, then they all get washed together with my other delicates; about every 2 weeks.

Same with my jeans.  I rotate 3 pairs, and I have 2 extra for my "dirty jobs".  I've heard it recommended to turn them inside out to reduce fading.  Not a bad idea if they aren't too dirty.  I've also heard the suggestion of adding vinegar to the wash... but I'll be honest, I'm just not that ambitious.

Eww. Granted, they do get hung up every night to air but. . .nope, definitely eww. Too much sweat in that region. I wonder if those women get more fungal infections? A fresh bra twice a week for me. Now, they certainly LOOK like they only get washed once every 6 months :tongue2:. But I think that's just what happens to that kind of fabric.

I do turn my jeans inside-out to help prevent fading. I also use vinegar (in a Downy ball) as fabric softener, but I didn't know that was good for jeans.

LOL...same concern here!
I have a particular issue with "food dirt". So if I'm sitting in a public booth at a restaurant or at the movie theater, for example, immediately in the wash they go. Otherwise, I wear 2-3 times before washing.

I must be an oddball neat freak because I wear things only once then it goes into the hamper.  Sometimes I feel like the laundry queen because I was so often but it's gotten to be habit.
