I need to know what i can do to help my cat. He is 5 years old, seems to be rather lethargic or depressed. he had a well kitty exam 2 weeks ago  for the first time since he was born and it turned out fine. no feline diseases or such. he had his vaccinations too. I worry because i have had bad luck with cats and keeping them well. He usually likes to play and cause trouble but he is not doing that. When or what should I be concerned about.. He loves tuna but he did not eat alot of it like normally he does. And He just does not seem to be himself. It has been hot here where we live but we keep the A.C running often.. also does any one know what the signs of urinary infection or inability is in cats??

Is he having a reaction to the vaccines? Has he had them before? Did you let your vet know? Food influences their health trmedously too. What do you feed him? Hope he feels better

@jrspal

The first thing to do is call your vet and explain all this to him/her.  Your vet is your first line of defense.  Urinary issues usually show as straining at the litter box, difficulty in peeing, vocalizing at the litter box.   Why do you ask about that? Do you suspect a urinary issue?

When did he become lethargic?

He isn't eating normally, that's a problem.  Is he drinking, peeing, and pooping normally?  Something is wrong and you should contact your vet.  You should be concerned.  It could be a vaccine reaction, but they usually happen much sooner, but there are exceptions.

Please contact your vet.  This problem will probably become worse, the sooner you contact the vet, the better for the cat and less $$$ for you.

Hi all. Junior is doing a little bit better. He is not sufering from urinary infection like i thought he was, but what happened i guess is he must have fallen off a bin or table because his hind leg was hurting him and he was mopey lethargic and not really wanting to eat or drink. he is now eating, drinking piddling and pooing in his litter box no probs with that and he is grooming. He had some shaking/trembling but i think it might have been from being chilled or the trauma of getting hurt. his well cat check was perfect and NO diseases like luke fvp or other stuff. We are just waiting for him to get to playing and acting nuts. I have video of him from a few months ago on Youtube. Look under Playtime with Junior I think. I will look it up tomorrow and give the link. Any way have a great day.

If he got a shot in that area, it could've been pain from the shot.  Keep an eye on him and be sure to mention this reaction to the vet at his next follow up appointment for his shots.

he did not get a shot in that area. i think what happened was he fell off or something. But never the less he is happy healthy and almost normal now. he is walking noramally now. we had also called the vet but it takes money to have her come and see him or to take him to vet and money is soemthing we do not have. the reason i was worried about a UTI is because we had a cat that had that and we had to put him to sleep. I was afraid it was happening to him but its not the case.
