When do you try to sleep through the night?

For all you orphan caretakers and bottle feeders, if everyone is doing well - eating well and gaining - at what age do you no longer get up to feed in the night? Everyone seems to have a sldigferent approach, so I'm curious what everyone here does.

You do give yourself half the answer.   When the kittens are healthy, stabile, gaining, you do afford to have some sleeping pauses.  Say, just once in the middle of the night.

After all, kittens outside are not always exemplay fed.  Moms must go and get food somehwere.

Of course, they dont always survive - having some friends, you dont need any enemies...   but still.  A healthy, strong kitten manages quite much before there is a real danger for it.

This with every second hour is most touchy when they are on the verge, when the fight for life is going on for full...

Mine have been eating every 3 hours for a few days now, including at night. It's been awhile since I've had healthy kits. My last batch were so sick I couldn't afford 3 hours and I was getting up every 2 hours. Theses guys, though, are a total different kettle of fish. Been a while since I've had "typical" bottle babies. Now that I've said that someone will decide to screw with me. LOL

I really wasn't to drop the 3 am feeding, which would mean they'd go from midnight to 6am (I get up with my daughter then anyway. I want to say it was 2.5-3 weeks that I stopped getting up, but I can't remember.

Go for it.   Im sure they shall manage it without difficulties now, this 6 hours inbetween.   8-9 hours would be less than optimal, but 6 they should manage without problems.

After all, it is not only the kittens who shall live.  You shall live you too!

If you are unsure, you can continue to watch their weigh development.  It the gain is visibly worse, you can go back to this every 3 hours.  If they are OK, you proceed to sleep with perfectly good conscience.   :)

Good luck!
