After reading new cat advice last week, I went to the shelter today and adopted Toby,15 month old male. He's had everything done and was dropped off Fri. I was told he hissed and tried to bite them when picked up, but I put my hand in his cage, let him sniff and he curled up. He let me pick him up and put him in the carrier. I introduced him to Salem and Smoky and none of 'em hissed (surprise!). It's a big house so he's under my bed (for a few days most likely). Salem is in HER bathroom and Smoky playing with my roommate and her 2 yr old sister. I'm sure they're fine. Toby came with toys from his other family, so I think he'll be ok. Roomy and I are going to Memphis for weekend so I think they will spend time getting to know each other, Toby may explore. I'm happy with 3, but may get more! Hope I know when to stop!

Congrats on the new kitty. What does he look like? Do you have any idea why his other owners gave him to the shelter? I'm so glad you were able to save him. I'd have more than my two if my husband would let me. I'd also let the dog in the house!

He's orange and white but not "tiger" His tummy is all white and his face is orange and white "paint strokes" one direction, different widths. His eyes are yellow and orange marbles, his nose is pink (not black). He has long hair and a long fluffy, bushy tail. He's still under the bed, roomy calls him a grump cause he won't come out. I'm meeing the "other family" to pick up his things, maybe I'll learn more.

Thanks! I was on the floor talking to him and Smoky joined us. Toby is too tall to stand up and wouldn't come out to eat but he watched Smoky ignore him. It was cute! They're going to be just fine!

debra, congrats on your adoptions as well.

Thanks BodLover,
Problem is my nephew-dog Zeus is here, an 11 month old German Shepard "puppy". When he leaves today I'm sure all three will come out. Salem is spoiled though and when she MEOWS I know what she wants, so she goes to her bathroom downstairs. He barks at her when she comes back up and she hisses at him til I let her back in. He's asleep now so we're at the web in the living room and Salem is asleep on the couch next to me. I expect Toby (that was the name his other family gave him and he likes it) to come out when he "hears" the quiet.
Aren't they special!!

Guess I don't have a life cause they are my life!
