Hello there,

I recently re homed an oriental 3 year old uneuterd ebony coloured female cat called Ebony (creative i know). i originally was looking for a young kitten with its papers and that was registered  but i found this cat and she was in a small home full of cats and she was the only one the women regretted buying ,mainly i believe cause she was black and all the other cats were cream in here cream home, due to the poor condition she was in i decided to take her in. But i soon realised that due to her unregistered and unpapered status she would be almost impossible to breed. As i am in the animal caring and breeding world i do have many friends that have met her and think she is wonderful (whih she so is) and they wont to have one of her kittens but i would have to breed her with an oriental cat otherwise the baby's would be to big and could hurt her narrow frame.

so i am really wondering does any one firstly think i could breed her? and how i could? or if it would be to hard to get and orriental stud?

I also wondered is there anyone out there in the Hampshire area who has a male uneutered cat with no papers also that they would be prepared to breed with my cat at a small fee?

thank you for taking the time to read and for anyone who replys

Hi
In short, breeding her is not a good idea.  If she does not have papers, she is not an oriental.  You will not be able to find any registered ethical breeder who will be willing to let their stud breed with her. In addition, I am not sure if you have experience with ethical breeding but it is very expensive and time consuming.  It involves many vet visits. In addition, spaying this cat is the healthier and more humane thing to do for her.

Please take time to read over these articles:

My recommendation would be, to spay her and let her be a happy harmonic home girl.

And I hope these BYB ladies  they too end with their  backyard breeding....

BUT.  If you REALLY want to have kittens after her, as long as possible oriental-looking, a full worth alternative to a  oriental tom is a modern siamese tom.

They do have the same frame, and are quite much mixed togehter both these breeds.

The kittens will prob have moms color, as the point  gene is recessive.   Unless, of course, she is a point carrier herself.  Which she may, as said.

In that case, you will get kittens look alikes of a modern siamese...

Good luck!

I must agree with @tulosai and @StefanZ that you should spay this lovely 3-year-old Oriental and let her be a beautiful and well-loved pet, and if your friends want an Oriental kitten, they should buy one from a breeder.  Do they want one of her kittens because it will be free because it will be unregistered?  You basically rescued this cat from an overcrowded situation and I'm sure she appreciates this.  Once she is spayed, she will no longer be in danger of uterine infections or ovarian cysts and your friends will no longer be asking for kittens.

Re your friends wanting a Oriental:   (or any other purebred)

If they dont afford to pay what it cost, they can do as you: give a home for an adult Oriental, who needs a new home.   These are sold for rather symbolic money!

Perhaps a fifth or a tenths of what a kitten would cost.  Or even sometimes for free, with just a symbolic payment.

And the veterinary works already done, and most gears follow the cat.

It may be a bough Oriental, whose owner got sick or even died, and the relatives cant or dont want to take over the ownership.

Or somebody by any other reason cant have the cat...

A big group are queens and studs who quits with their  breeding career. The breeder using now the next generation.

The ex-studs can be quite young.   The ex-queens perhaps 5-7 years.

Serious breeders are anxious they get good homes if they cant keep them themselves  (some do).

All these will also have usually  their proper purebred certificates with them.
