hi guys sorry to post a new topic here

but my cat had some brownish water come out of her yesterday and there was a little blood but its stopped and from the looks of her

the babies have moved down to her lower stomach as you can see it sagging now

is this normal during pregnancy ?

she is a first time mom 1 and half years old

could she be ready to give birth ??

im worried as ive rung a local vet and they have told me to monitor her with what ive told them and see how she is

it started mid day yesterday

i know i should have got her spayed and will be after this litter as i dont want her to go through this again

any advice is welcome

thanks

jason

I wouldn't be too concerned, sounds like a bit of waters breaking and some of the blood, if it increases though and still no sign of kittens I would ring the vet back.  Has she been spending a lot of time scratching in the litter tray?  That was a big sign that Lola was about to produce.  Good luck!

But so far its going normally yes.

Good luck!

It sounds like you will have kittens born very soon.  We have a good collection of articles in the Cat Health section which you can access by scrolling up to the brown bar, clicking on Articles, and then choosing the Cat Health section and scrolling through the choices.  To make this super easy for you, I am copying the links in here.  After reading this information, let us know if you have any more questions.  And good luck with your approaching new arrivals.

They can have pauses, hours or even days.   As long as mom seems contend and OK, you dont need to worry too much.

Its "just" if she is in visible distress, or long active labor without result, when you must worry and contact your vet asap...

How was the first one stillborn kitten looking?  Furry and full developed, or visibly premature?

If premature, the others may come several days after, in their time, alive and healthy with any luck...

Please continue to report.

ps.

How is her temp seeming?   You can measure in her foreleg-armpit.   Its not so invasive nor stressing like measuring in the behind.

Temp in the armpit is lower than in the behind, about 3F degree or one whole degree Celcius.

If the temp is raised, = infection and vet visit asap...

she was crying for the baby i think and is sniffing it so ill remove it now from her

but otherwise she is very ok in her self no odd behaviour just sleeping a lot and i can feel atleast 2 more in her

You can perhaps feel anyway?   You perhaps use to kiss her, use your lips.   With humans, kiss on the forehead is the safest way to get a quick  orientation...

Being her Dad, you are probably used to feel of ther normal temp...

I remember when I was father, I did never needed to measure my childs temp, I always felt it.   Measuring was just to get a exact worth...

You can go to any neigbour and lend from them. a termometer.    In times of need, the social norm tells, you can ask anybody, and they are almost "forced" to help you.   Even those whom you normally dont speak with, even being on non speaking terms...

Good luck!

ps.  If you are lending, try to find an ear termometer - its easiest to measure this way!

well thanks again for the reply im worrying a lot now

as she is following me like a hawk and crying

ive rung the vet and as i cant get there tonight ive got to take her first thing in the morning

as the vet is concerned that all the kittens inside her are likely dead

there is no smell or puss like stuff coming from her

i can feel both baby's that are left and they aint moving anymore

so sadly this one is rather an upsetting reply

im also concerned about her well being as she is looking for the dead kitten and crying at my other younger one who is 5 months old thinking he is hers

when sadly he aint

so ill let you all know the outcome from tomorrow

thanks again for all the reply's and help

i am more than greatful

jason

well guys just to let you all know

took tiddles to the vets this morning she has been given a clean bill of health

and no more kittens in her so it was just the one i asked what the lumps i could feel was and its her bladder the vet said as it was very full of urine i got her home and she had a wee for atleast 2 mins long and the kitty litter was very wet and had to be changed

so ive no idea how long she held it in

but there was the only the one kitten that died tiddles will be going in to be nuetered in a few days

so im happy tiddles is happy time to not worry :D

That's an unusual outcome but we really appreciate your taking the time to let us know.  Now Tiddles will be spayed and no more problems.

Is it possible she delivered more than one, but you didnt notice?  If you perhaps was away a while.

It is not unusual they take away the stillborn.  Carry them away and hide.   Or if they cant carry away, they eats up the dead body.  They do so not to attract predators to the nest with the other, living kittens.

It sounds grotesque, but they do it in their love for the surviving kittens.

Here wasnt there any more, but this she couldnt know.

If you was there the whole time, we must believe it was the only one, as the vet did make a careful search.

After all, it does happens there is only one.
