I took him into the vet yesterday because he's lost weight, and gone off his food.

They said he's dehydtrated, and were not able to draw blood 'cuz his vein collpases when they try.

So they put him on an I.V. overnight. I'm gonna call in a couple hours and see how he is.

One good thing his urine came back good

She said he has a bacterial infection going on.

It started with a "c". I was driving and wasn't able to write it down.

She also suspects he has some gastroenteritis going on too.

She won't know the results of the blood test til tomorrow

I'm glad that Sylvester seems to be feeling a little better.

How did the vet determine a bacterial infection? From a fecal exam? Was it clostridium? I think diarrhea is a typical symptom of this, though.

If you find out what the name is, let us know. We may be able to offer additional input.

Thanks. Yes, they also did a fecal. Maybe?

He has had diahrhea, or loose stool too, and she said he still does.

Oh, okay. You didn't mention diarrhea initially, so I wasn't sure. If it is clostridium, adding saccharomyces boulardii (a probiotic yeast) can help.

I'm so glad he's doing better, and hope your vet gives you some more information about what's going on with your boy.

I am very happy he has improved.  You and Sylvester are in my prayers.  Please keep us updated on how he is doing and just know you have a lot of people rooting for you and Sylvester.

I'm in McCook, the desert region of Nebraska! If we don't get measurable rain this year I really think we will look like a desert. The trees are starting to die. We are already inches under our normal. How is Sylvester doing? I hope well!

I've been to McCook a few times.

We've been getting too much rain latley. Course we'll probably be saying I wish it would rain in a couple months when it's so hot and dry LOL

Just as I suspected Sylvester looks like he has a little IBS going on.

The vet want to put him on prescrition canned Science Diet, either Z/D or D/D

Thoughts, and food reccomendations?
I prefer not to feed raw
