Who is your oldest friend?  How long have you been friends?

My oldest friend is my cousin.  We were born 28 days apart so I guess we've been friends all our lives.  Apparently my Dad received some dirty looks when he accompanied my Mother and Aunt to the mall while they were heavily pregnant with us.
As babies when my cousin would cry; so would I.
Good thing we weren't so attached at the hip as teens (I lived in another state anyway) or I'd have given my parents a lot more gray hairs!

My best friend when I was in seventh grade with him. That would have been in 1967-1968. He lives about 65 miles away from me. I talk to him on the phone occasionally, but have never seen him since 1969.

My best friend is someone l met at school when we were 7 years old. She still lives in England but we still correspond occasionally, mostly by email.

My best friend, I've known him for 16 years since we were in 7th grade. He lives in London now and we correspond via text and FB occasionally.

Closest second would be my roommate. We've been friends for 8 years.

I don't keep in touch with any friends from high school anymore otherwise.

The one I stay in contact with has been my friend since second grade. We met in elementary school, I moved away the following year (just to the other end of the city, but when you're 6, that's honestly the end of the world), we would talk, hang out, and write letters infrequently, eventually chatted a lot online, and then we met up again infrequently in university.

Now when I visit home, I touch base with and meet with her if she's around. We still text, Facebook, and Skype IM. It's been 18 years. :)

I've another friend I've known for a few months fewer than the above friend. When I moved into my new house, a girl came from down the street and asked my dad if she could play with his daughter and we've been friends since. Actually, when I visited home this weekend, I got together with her yesterday and we ran up and down a hill we used to think was huge just reliving our childhood, and coming upon the realization that we're old and out of shape. ;)

I thought this was for oldest friend. My best friend I have known since 1988. We talk for an hour or so once a week. He moved from Gainesville in 1993 and I moved from there to here in 1994.

Now I'm confused, lol. I thought oldest friend as in "friend you are friends with the longest". Or did that mean friend with the highest number in age?
That's what had me confused, too. That's why I gave the answers I did. I gave the one I had been friends with the longest. And then everyone started giving best friends, so I did the same. Just because I lost contact with the one for 40 years doesn't mean we weren't still friends.

I never stayed in contact with anybody from my school years...it was a bit difficult as I ended up getting married at 16. And sometimes, teenagers can be jerks. I see classmates on the street sometimes and will chat for a few minutes then. But that's pretty much it.

My longest (and closest) friend is Bruce. I met him when I was working in the paper plant. We got to be friends and then he became one of my dearest friends in the world. We went to college together (he was going to college and also studying to be a minister at the same time). He did get his Geography degree, a semester before I got mine.  And, in fact, Bruce and I worked here together for about 6 years before he and his wife left for Minnesota. He is now a pastor to a small church in Minnesota.

We still stay in contact, although not so frequently anymore. But when he calls, we immediately go back to those days and it's like he's never left. We can just pick up where we left off. I still Priority mail him his birthday cake; sometimes it gets there in one piece.....sometimes it doesn't, but he eats it anyway. His birthday cake is a Honey Bun Cake....decadent, according to him. I usually get a phone call about two weeks or so before his birthday: "Hey! Cake!"
And then we chat. Our emails, if we printed them out, would go several pages. Sometimes I start an email to him, and then think, "Aw, the heck with it" and pick up the phone instead. It's been almost 30 years since I met him. I just love the guy.

My guy friend, where we met in 2nd grade and played many outdoor games together at both our houses. Huge imagination, from living in a world of Romans/Egyptians to trying to survive on the Titanic. In our minds we had armies, weapons, castles, fancy clothes and so forth. Also went to a lot of events together.

After we went to middle school though, we didn't hang as much (For whatever reason, kids at school made a big deal about about a girl and a boy being close platonic friends) so it made a lot of things awkward and difficult. And you all know at that age sometimes caring about what others say and do gets to you, even if we never cared before in our younger years. Plus he was following into a more tricky crowd, and I was more academic. Then my family and I moved to another province and we ceased contact.

Buuuuuut, after a good few years, we found and added each other on Facebook
