My kitty doesn't normally get the red eyes (conjunctivitis), but I have use gentamicin drops on her in the past successfully. I also use them in her nose because she gets very sneezy and congested and they work great. I know many herpes kitty owners who use idoxuridine drops for their kitty.
When angel used to have break outs, the vet prescribed the Neo Poly drops, & those always worked well for him.
Yes, I agree about the lysine. I have been giving it to Angel for over 4 years now, & he never has break outs anymore. He was on the eye drops every few months off & on for the first two years he was with me. I could just call the vet for refills.
I think it's been over two or more years now sense he has needed any. If his eyes even start to look a little suspicious, or he sneezes a few times, (rare)
& seems he just needs a little immune boost, (also if I know he is going to be stressed for some reason it seems to help, sense the immune system is more vulnerable under stress. I just up his dose for a few days to two weeks if needed & all is fine.
The recommended dose is 250 mg. 2XS/day. 500 mg. 2XS/day during a break out.
I just order a bottle of 500 mg. Lysine capsules on amazon, & sprinkle 1/2 a cap in his breakfast, & the other 1/2 in his dinner.
