My dear beloved cat and friend smokey was just PTS on wednesday night. I am currently attending college and was unable to be with my family for it. He was suffering from FLUTD for the second time and anyone who has ever had a cat go through it knows how miserable it is. He was in so much pain and this time was worse than last. It is also a very expensive problem to fix and he was one of two cats at my house. My other baby boy Cosmo has also suffered from FLUTD twice but both times we have payed the outrageous bill to save him. But this time, we couldn't afford it and the vet wasn't even sure Smokey would get better due to how severe it was. Today we went out to my grandfathers farm and buried him in a spot my dad picked out because the trees were to the north of him so he'll get sun year round and be protected from the nasty north wind in the winter. I'm going to miss my baby so much, the house seems so empty and quiet without him here even though I have Cosmo left and my dog Dakota. Smokey was 10 years old and was a rescue cat. My mom saw him cowering under the eve of our neighboors garage during a thunderstorm when he was just a few months old. My dad then set up our carrier with food and a string attached to the door so when he walked in the carrier my dad could pull the door closed. My parents didn't know it then, but he was gonna be our new friend and companion. They hid him in the basement of our house for a few weeks while they searched for any possible owner, but at the end of a few weeks, they decided he was a stray and made him our smokey. It took awhile for him to adjust to people and to get along with our other cat as they are both males but at the end, they were best friends. I could post a million photos of them cuddling together. He liked to nip when he wanted attention but then if you said ow he would flinch back and look at you all sad like he hadn't meant to hurt you. He was our sweaty and I can't believe he's gone. I hope one day that money is what you need to save your friends life as an animal is more than a pet, they're your friend and companion and roommate and everything in the world. I will never forget our little stray kitten with one side of his whiskers burnt off, even though he wasn't exactly such a skiny-minny when he passed. I hope he enjoys his eternal sunshine and play. Rest in peace baby boy. Love always.
