This makes me feel like I am not the brightest bulb in the pack having to ask this at my age, but I really hate dealing with vets as most that I have worked with over the years don't really know so they run up 100's and 100's of bucks just to say "Well, I just don't know" ~ That is why I am coming to you fellow friends of felines! FFoF Unite!
My sweetie, Mabel, is a 3yo altered, large, mixed breed (part Maine Coon) 16 lb long hair on a straight dry food diet, no changes (she will not eat wet food). In the last few months when brushing her I have noticed a sticky residue on the fur around her vaginal area. When I examined her I trimmed the hair and I went ahead and checked/cleared her anal sacs. They did not appear inflamed. Her vaginal area does not appear inflamed. It does not have any abnormal odor, fluids, pus or anything like that. I have had a female dog with a yeast inf. and there is none of "that" that I can detect. She does go outdoors and uses the "toilet" outside (as well as her box) I have watched her toilet time and that seems all normal-no pain etc. I have had many cats over 30 years, but have not noticed this "condition" before. Is it just normal dried urine or is this a "clue" to a condition I should get treated. Thanks in advance! Love those kitties!
