Hey y'all, I found this site while looking for tips about prego kitties and it as such a big help I decided to join. Back in September someone pulled up to a pump at the gas station where I work and instead of fueling up, they dropped a cat off and drove away. She sat at the front door and meowed her head off, but wouldn't let anyone close enough to touch her. After my shift I got a box and went outside, she let me pet her And feed her a little Vienna sausage and before she knew it she was in the box headed home! We called her Kitty while trying to decide what to name her, and before we knew it her name was Kitty, lol. She is an inside outside cat, and never had having a cat before I didn't realize they could get pregnant so young. So, as of yesterday we have 5 cats! so far she is a good mama. She is letting them nurse, and won't let me move them. She had them under my 14 year olds bed and they keep him up at night (or so he said when he missed the bus this morning! Lol) after trying to move them twice, and her freaking out about it I decided to leave them alone and let him sleep on the couch! I don't want her to get too stressed out and hurt them. She will let us touch them as long as she can see us, and she does get up and walk around, until they get to crying too loud then she runs back. I have her food in it's usual place in the kitchen, and another dish right beside her 'bed' which is actually a giant cloth checkers mat. She chose it, not me! I was planning to keep just one kitten, but my husband wants to keep them all! I suggested we just keep the ones we can't find good homes for. A fair compromise, since I'm the one who does the clean up, lol. Anyways, I'm looking forward to tips and tricks as they get bigger since Kitty is my first cat ever I am very new to this.

Hi, welcome to TCS!  Bless you for taking in a cat in a need and your family for their understanding.  I would recommend consulting a vet if you haven't already, to get mom her shots and spaying after her kittens have stopped nursing.  (If I am wrong on any of this, someone please jump in and correct me; it's been a long time since I've had a hand in raising kittens.)  I would also find out the appropriate age/weight to get the kitten fixed, along with getting their first shots. Depending on the resources available in your area, you may find a lower cost spay/neuter clinic that could help you about a bit on price.  Some vets will even offer a discount if you explain the circumstances, it just depends on the vet.  You can find a wealth of information in the Pregnant Cats and Kittens forum, and I know a lot of members that know much more on the subject than I do.  By the way, you cat and kittens are gorgeous.  I can't say enough kind words about good Samaritans like you.
