How often do you clean the litter scoop?

So I use clumpable litter and sccop the litter box once a day. I've been cleaning the litter scoop before I scoop the litter box because I don't want the scoop to make the litter in the box dirty. I guess I'm thinking that a dirty scoop will make the litter dirty which will be picked up by the cat and tracked around the house.

So I'm curious how often you clean the litter scoop and if I'm overdoing it by cleaning it every day.

My cats are indoor/outdoor so I am not depending on the litter box 24/7.  I change the litter every week and scoop daily.  No, I don't clean the scooper.  I also use a small box of baking soda in the box and mix it with the litter.

We don't clean the scoop unless it has poop on it. Every so often we get a new scoop though. The litter box is cleaned daily and sometimes twice and then dumped biweekly and washed out.

I clean the scoop with bathroom cleaner once a week and "as needed", meaning when excrement or wet litter sticks to it.

Hmm, litter sticks to my scoop every time I use it. Oh, maybe that's because the scoop is a little wet from washing it under the sink every time I use it!

I send the scoop in for a wash once a month with the litter box, since it's my boyfriend's chore. Not much sticks to the scoop itself, but if the cats pee on the edge of the litterbox and it's still moist when I scoop it, when I scrape that lump away from the litterbox wall is the only time I get some wet clay sticking to the scoop.

Our scoop gets a "quick wash" every time the boxes are scooped, which is twice a day. It was a habit I started when we first adopted, and one of our kittens had roundworms & giardia. So I was a bit meticulous during treatment, and it's a habit I haven't stopped. After scooping, I give it a rinse in hot water, and spritz it with diluted lysol or vinegar (most often it's vinegar, these days). Let it sit a moment, then rinse again. A few shakes to get most of the water off, and call it done.
