We bought a new house this year, and so it is our first Halloween here. We had a lot of trick-or-treaters tonight - I would guess about 80. It's been a long time since I've lived in a place that got a lot of traffic on Halloween And it is pretty cold out tonight, so I thought there might be less. I had a really polite little Batman (probably about 4 years old) that was super cute!!

Did everyone else get a lot of visitors this Halloween?

My house normally doesn't get too many either. We had a few, a half bucket of candy gone!

WOW, 80 is A LOT!

We don´t do this here, so therefor I had none. I would like to try this thought, to be on that side of the door.
When I lived in the US, centuries ago (
), my friends and I were so excited to try all this Halloween stuff, that we dressed up and went trick or treating ourselves, even though we were 20 years old! We figured this was our only time we would try this, and we realllly had fun

We had almost none, three I think. Last year we ran out of candy twice and I had to make a mad dash to the store for more.

Guess who'll be eating lots of Sweetarts, M&M mini's, Twix bars and $100,000 bars?

To bad we don´t do this here! It would be such a great excuse to buy a lot of all the candy I like "to have enough" and then I would have to eat the rest myself the next days, coz these things go out of date so quickly

I had all of 2 girls show up at about 9:15. They hit the jackpot! I had a nice tray of Reeses' Peanut Butter Cups, Kit Kats, Fast Breaks, Hershey Chocolate Bars and Almond Joys made up. Well, since they were the only ones to show up, the tray basically got split between them! LOL

Earl probably won't be all too pleased that I gave out that much candy to two girls, but I don't want that much candy around, and he doesn't need it! (We still have half of the bag that they all came in here, and I'm sure he's going to want to hit the 1/2 price sales tomorrow....)

Heidi, we must have the same taste in candy. I had Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Kit Kats, Hersheys, Mr. Goodbar, and Almond Joy. I bought an extra bag of Kit Kats because my husband likes those, and that bag is pretty much all I have left. And I'm very proud of myself - I didn't eat even one candy bar last night. And Almond Joys and peanut butter cups are my favorites!

We had quite a few older kids last night. I know some people think that teenagers shouldn't go trick-or-treating, but that's never bothered me at all. To me, a 14 or 15 year old still has a lot of kid left in him/her, and I'd much rather they were knocking on my door for candy than TP-ing my house!!

I deliberately waited to buy until I was on the way home from work. The selection was poor, so I got stuff that doesn't interest me at all. Then, we had exactly ONE group of trick or treaters. I guess I'll donate it all to our fall festival at school.

I live in a big neighborhood but I never get trick or treaters.
I think they don't come on our street because it is mostly older people with no kids.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight!

That's why I buy two or three bags of Peanut Butter Cups, when I know we'll get 8 kids if we're lucky (this year it was 4). I have to hide the stuff or buy late, else Rob eats it all before time. As you say, can't have it go bad

Ok- want some of the kids in my neighbourhood! We had between 175-200 kids. It was nuts. We ended up sitting outside because the weather was nice and we were so busy we couldn't shut the door!

We had a fair amount, too. I never had any come when I lived in an apartment, so I was all excited about it this year. My husband (we're living in the house he's had for several years) wasn't too excited about it - he said that usually kids come by with grocery bags demanding candy & they don't even bother to dress up.

But this year was pretty good - I bought a moderate amount of good candy - stuff we wouldn't mind eating if there were leftovers. The neighborhood kids started coming by around 6:30, and they were dressed up really cute!
By 8:00 we had given out all of the candy, so then we just turned off the house lights & watched a movie. I think the ones who don't bother to dress up must come out later, and they didn't come since our lights were off by that time. It was nice to see the neighborhood kids all done up.
The cute little ones come out earlier so they can be home early.

When I was a little girl, we would dress up & go trick-or-treating, and when I got older I would stay home with my mother and we would dress up to give out candy. We really got into it...my husband isn't into it at all, but I'm working on him.
