Love Nips?

I have a 13 week old male kitten. He's very sociable and playful. He comes into bed with me and like to snuggle but he also crawls up to my face and licks and then nibbles my lip. I feel that I am an honorary cat but even though he doesn't hurt now I don't want a pierced lip at a future date! I like the cuddle and some licking is OK but how to stop the nipping at my face? Is this a usual behavoir for kittens. My adult cat licks my hand sometimes but never nips.

this can be considered normal. my amber opens her mouth and presses her teeth on my hand sometimes. not sure how to stop it. he might outgrow it, he might not. maybe you can put him down or ignore him for a few minutes whenever he nips you.

Neutering will help if he is not neutered. When he gets that close to your face gently blow one puff of air in his face and tell him sternly NO.

Thanks for the advice. I do put him off the bed and think this may be helping. I will try the blowing and see if that helps. He really is wonderfully affectionate and playful and has been very well behaved. I guess us human animals don't know what's socially acceptable for the feline group!
