I have 1 cat, an 8yr female medium-hair tabby & white cat called Bibby, & 2 guinea pigs, called Holly & Tilly. I would have more animals if I could.

I come from a farm where we had all sorts of animals - horses, dogs, cats, chooks, cows & calves, bulls, sheep, guinea pigs, rabbits, budgies........ miss them all

I'm with you there. I love animals but wouldn't want to keep most as pets. What I was referring to is the way some people say they love a particular type of animal, dogs and birds come to mind as the most prominent example, yet also say they hate cats (often with a passion
). I have yet to see someone who defines herself/himself as a cat lover move on to say "I absolutely loath dogs". Frightened of dogs, maybe, but not hating them in the same way some people seem to hate cats.
Yep, that's where I am.  I've always been more afraid of dogs; I certainly don't feel like I 'hate' them.

Eeeeew!

Good collection!  Did you ever charge friends and family entry fees like you had a mini zoo?
I should have,I could have made some money! Being popular was not a good thing at times, when I got my picture in the paper with my 4 foot long bullsnake, the neighbor called and said she would not come out until I got rid of it! (which was fine with me!
) but my parents did make me 'relocate' it to a farm. Then when I started getting too many pigeons, my dad decided it would be a good thing to have squab for supper, none of us kids ate that night!

I used to have gerbils in the days back when they were pretty unusual pets.  I used to breed them and it made for a nice regular income as a youngster.  My brothers always used to joke about gerbil sandwiches, and gerbils on toast....

I knew my family was safe really because my brothers loved them too, and one of them also adopted one of the babies - called her George and she turned out to be a mini Houdini that could get out of just about any locked cage....  just as well there were no cats in the house I grew up in.

I had my snake get loose once, found him weeks later in the basement, my mom was NOT happy!) With all my creatures I can only remember ONE casualty, the cat ate a chameleon, of course for some reason I didn't count the mice I fed to the snakes, I had to raise them in the garage. (my mother must have been a SAINT!!!)

I agree. I have met plenty of people who love dogs and hate cats but have never met a cat person who hates dogs. They may not want to live with one, but they don't dislike them. I love all animals and have had a variety of them as pets over the years from snakes, lizards, a ferret, rabbits, hamsters, dogs and now cats. I could never have a cat before because my mother hates them (for the DUMBEST reason ever- she says they are "sneaky". WHAT? If they went stomping through the house like a herd of elephants you'd like them?
Ever hear of these things they invented called collars with bells on them? SMH. I couldn't have one after that because hubby was highly allergic. The ironic part of that was that cats were drawn to him like magnets. even cats that were generally not very social couldn't stay away from him. they absolutely loved him. he loved them, too, he just couldn't spend too much time with them.

Wow, such a wonderful variety! I have this theory that every cat lover is an all-animal lover. Sounds very simplistic, I know. What I mean is that there are people who consider themselves dog lovers, or bird lovers, yet literally hate cats. I have yet to see a cat lover saying they hate any other kind of animal.
If this ppicture came out it's Megan the donkey my sister adopted.

Aww, Megan.  My mom lives on a small farm and has two rescue donkeys.  She also has a pet sheep, used to have pygmy goats (also rescues) until they passed away, chickens, pigeons, a desert tortoise, and a dog.  The only thing she DOESN"T have is a cat.  (The dog does not tolerate cats.)

She was beautiful. Long gone now.
My sister showed her picture to a friend saying she was her adopted daughter. The reply yes I can see the resemblance.
The picture is from a coaster tgst I thought was too important to ruin with glasses of whatever.
My word your mum certainly had a lot of rescue animals. I take my hat off to her. Do you know that expression? Shane she can't have a kitty or two.
My two could be called rescue.

My bunny Frankie thinks he's a cat. He is very small, 1 1/2 pounds. He actually growls and chases. He recently suffered a stroke and has forgotten how to eat so I have to syringe feed him. My felines knew something wasn't right with him before I knew. They were not chasing him. That night he had the stroke. I have him out now and they are leaving him be.

Currently I'm training and babysitting my mother-in-law's dog who's a Pug/Shitzu cross. I also have a Bearded Dragon, a small Mouse colony(10), and a Betta fish in a 7 gallon on my desk. I'm also caring for a friends four goldfish while she's on vacation.

We have our cat crusher, then two Chihuahuas which we show, fish, and three horses that we show.  We cut back with raising and showing dogs in the last several years since having my children.  I refused to be one of those people who kennel their show dogs constantly, ours are pets first and foremost.
