For me, it was seeing the very first hummingbird of the year at the feeder, even if only out of the corner of my eye at dusk. Hummingbirds are very special to me . I started a thread (almost 3 years ago, after my mother died) about hummingbirds. Seeing my first hummingbird of the year puts both a smile on my face and tears in my eyes.

What little thing made you smile today?

I found my cat sleeping with the cutest face ever, and his tongue was sticking out. He woke up, startled, and his tongue was still sticking out. Of course, Murphy's law made sure that he put his tongue back in by the time I got the camera.

I just came in from doing my nightly overhaul in the cat room, and one of the friendly cats from that big colony I just finished trapping at is here, Little Debbie, and she had some major things done at the vets, and is recovering here and will likely stay here always, she just now for the first time since she's been here, showed interest in toys and got up and put a feather toy in her mouth that I gave her and started getting spunky in her cage, put it between her paws and was teasing her nose and biting at it with her butt in the air, spunkin out.

What a great sight to see! She has been very sick and wasn't looking like a good outcome for her, but is obviously feeling better, finally!!

Also, not smile but cracked up actually, playing 2 games on here, story builder and answer question with a question. What a riot!!

It was beautiful out today. The pups were sunning on the back deck and saw deer in the yard for the first time. They lost their little minds. They were singing and making crazy, high pitched noises I have never before heard come out of their mouths. It was ridiculous. I was trying to shush them so the deer would stay, but was laughing too much for the shushing to work. The male was so excited, he was vibrating. Those poor deer! I hope they come back.

Mouse's face when he was chewing down on the post that had just come through the door. Cute, eye's half closed, ears back, funny little growly noise.

Got up to pee and when I came back my puppy(who is pushing 2yo...) Had herself wrapped up in blanket and laying on pillow.  I have no idea how she can do that in under a minute.

My darling, adorable, silly, funny old dog, Henry. He makes me smile all day long - just by looking at him. :D :D :D He is an Irish Jack Russell - a shorty Jack and has the cutest body and short legs with the most adorable back end when he trots around. :lol3: No matter what he does- he is just tooooooo cute and I can't help but smile.

I was waiting for an elevator today, and this mom and her two year old boy, came up to it.  The little boy, while holding his mom's hand, tried in earnest to push the up and down buttons of the elevator.  He could not reach them even by stretching on tip toes, so his mom helped him out. (they were lit up anyhow).

I had to smile, and she smiled back. Then we talked while waiting for the elevator.

(and yes, playing the games in the Lounge on TCS, makes me smile and laugh, too).

Merle the Squirrel (think Simple Dog from Hyperbole and a Half), is finally starting to 'get it.' I went to take the dogs out and when I got to the door, I turned around to see her sitting a proper distance away from the door and waiting to be invited, just like we have been training her to do. When she came back in, she went directly to the spot and sat again for her treat. I didn't have to give her any commands. The eager and proud look on her face made me so happy.

As I brushed my teeth tonight there was a black cat beside me on the vanity. At the very same moment that I spat out the toothpaste the little black cat darted across the basin. She now has a white stripe. Silly cat!!!!!:lol3:

Poor baby....
I hope it was a nice mint flavour or something she likes the taste of for when she licks her paws during her next bath time.

Yes it is! I'm used to seeing (and smelling) these little guys because my parents' house is in an area that used to be all forested, but I was pretty happy to find one in highway-and-factoryland on one of the few green areas.

Australia has some pretty adorable stuff to make up for the lack of skunks and squirrels. :) And if photos are any gauge, some pretty gigantic scary things too, haha.

Reading all these posts made me smile this morning. Thank you.

Sometime during the night, Muffin had left the bed. But when I awakened this morning, I was on my right side....with my left arm wrapped around her. Evidently, she jumped back into bed and crawled in right next to me under the covers. She had her little paws tucked up under her chin and her head was tucked in under my chin. She was lying as tight against me as she could.
 And she was snoring.

Tammat, there are times when I'm trying to floss and Mollipop sits on the bathroom counter and tries to go after my floss. One thing about living with cats.....every day is an adventure!
