Just looking for any tips and tricks. Wendel needs to have a urinalysis done, but he alway freaks out and pees when he goes in his carrier to go to the vet. They gave us a special sand he can pee in, but he absolutely won't - he'll hold it in...anyone managed to get a urine sample before? I'm up for trying anything.

I have never tried to do this, but some people have been successful putting a ladle under them at the crucial moment. Others have been able to use saran wrap in an area over the litter to try to catch some urine that way.

Oh Wendel, why can't you just use the special litter and make your mom's life easier?

Well there is a manual way to get a sample out of him that the vet can do if he has some in his bladder, its not painful, ive watched/participated in this a number of times, they basically insert a fine needle into the bladder and pull urine out, and i've never seen a cat complain!

But if his bladder is empty because he goes in the carrier, hmmm...wait if he goes in the carrier, can you then take him out and collect some of the urine from the bottom of the carrier?  Or if not, what if you pur the special sand in the carrier so he wont go, and then they can take a sample at the office with a syringe?

I've read where some wait on their cat with a soup ladle in hand.

What about putting the box with special sand in the carrier?

Well, we resorted to me waiting around them jamming a tupperware lid under him, but I got enough that they could test it and his urine concentration is great.
So no more morning pills for my boy.
