Hello,

See this picture:

This is not my cat, I could not get my cat still to take a photo for this area.

My cat has the same problem of this cat.

See the hair under the chin and the neck/chest, it looks I-don't-jow-how-to-describe-it.

Emmm, wirey? Fragmented? I don't know. It is not as soft and smooth as the rest of his body.

I keep combing and brushing it. But its texture is still different?

Is it because it get in the food bowel for instance when he eats?

This makes my cat look "dirty".

Whey is that?

And how do I treat it?

It looks like fur that has not been groomed, maybe because the cat cannot reach that spot with it's tongue. A quick brushing should fix it right up. The clumpy look could be caused by the friction between the chin and neck as the cat turns it's head from side to side when grooming or doing normal activities. When one of my cats was overweight, her fur looked clumpy like that in the areas she could not reach.

If the fur is sticky or wet a lot, it could be from drool. Excessive drooling can mean a bad tooth or other serious issues and a vet visit would be a good idea.

I love your avatar!

Thank you. :)

I comb and brush this area at least once a day. He does not drool, and tries hard to lick when he does his usual grooming.

There is an area on one of his hands that has a spot that looks like this. The hair looks fragmented and somehow waxy.

Will it go if I bathe him? I can't handle bathing him myself, I take him to a groomer. But once he got a bad flu after a bath, so I'm holding the bathing thing until he gets his vaccinations.

Any ideas about this?

Thanks.

Update:

Could this be caused by the buster collar? My cat was in hospital for a few days.

If yes, what should I do?

I tried combing, brushing, spraying cat fur conditioner.

I don't want to bathe him now, not until he finished his vaccination.

Thanks.
