Greetings all !!!! I wanted to get some opinions and insight from my fellow cat lovers about the possibility of my cat being incontinent. I very recently adopted (she adopted me first) a tailless tabby cat that was living out doors. She is a very sweet and gentle cat that is still in recovery from surgery.

Anyhow, I noticed a faint odor of urine that wasn't present before I moved her into my home. However, I do not see urine anywhere. So I am thinking she is leaking small amounts. I spoke to my vet and she told me that she may be incontinent because of her birth defect. I LOVE this cat so much and want to do all that I can to make her comfortable. Any one have experience with incontinent tailless cats?

On another note.... does vinegar really remove urine odor? I have replaced her linen and so far this has worked. And I have the odor problem under control. I am thinking towards the future if she does have an incontinence problem. I say  "if " because she just had a major surgery and the urine smell may be related. Thanks all in advance for your responses.

You really should get a good enzyme cleaner (at pet and dept. stores or on Amazon) to completely get rid of the smell. A good black light bulb you can put on a trouble light is essential too if you don't know where the urine spots are. Run the light over your floors in the dark and it will fluoresce where the spots are. I have never had a cat with nerve damage, but I knew the tail nerves are connected to the bladder control. I'm glad she doesn't constantly lose urine, it sounds like it is mild. Usually tailless cats born that way don't have a problem.  It could be that the surgery made her that way temporarily too, my cat defecated on the carpet when he had surgery. Within weeks he was back to using the litterbox. Welcome to the site, I hope you find it useful in your quest to find answers. You will surely be blessed for taking in this little lost soul, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being an angel on earth!
