Hi, I'm Jessica, pet parent of Hetfield, a 10 month old domestic short hair. Oh the teen years.

Getting ready for a walk:

Going for a walk:

This is my second post, my first is in behavior. He's a handful, but he's a sweetie pie. I'll post our story later. I'm sleepy now, and thank goodness so is he.

How Hett and I met...
Got a Cat Named Lucky Hettfield Lopez Smith

October 10, 2013

So we went to see the movie "Through the Never" (The Metallica movie) for my birthday. As we were coming out of the theater, I hear Carlos say "Oh, look at the kitty!" (Sorry babe, I had to be realistic.) And I look, and there is a very nice gentleman in a wheelchair with a big orange cat on his lap.

The cat's name was Rusty. Rusty was a sweety, and you could tell he was definitely a dear loving friend to this man. Well, we pet Rusty, said our goodbyes, and started walking toward the door when I spotted another lady with the gentleman and another cat. "Oh, look at the kitty!"

We went over, talked to her and pet "Lucky", who immediately started licking my fingers. She let me hold him, and handed me his leash (yes, cat on a leash.)

We found out his back story; he and his siblings were left in a cardboard box on the side of the road. Lucky was the only one who made it out safely. (RIP, poor little babies.)

They rescued him, took him home and patched him up, but their landlord said they couldn't have another cat. Well, she was heartbroken, of course, but was trying to find the poor lovey dovey kitty a home. (The whole time I am hearing the story, "Lucky" was in my arms, licking my fingers and eventually fell asleep purring away.)

I look down at him, look over at Carlos, and he says those three words, "You want him?" and I knew I couldn't leave without him. As we were debating, and believe me we did, everyone in the mall kept asking what was going on, and I remember saying "It's my birthday" about nine or ten times, and finally, Carlos says "Ok. You're taking him, and that's that."

Whelp, I took him alright. We went across the street to PetSmart, and started to shop for him, while throwing names back and forth. The first thing I thought of was Metallica related, because we just came out of the movie.

So, this is now him, our tribute to James Hetfield, lead singer of Metallica, who in some strange way brought us our little bundle of joy. And occasionally claws and teeth, but that's just kitten-hood.

He is pretty well behaved. Having normal teenage issues, so we are working through that.

I think he dreams of his siblings sometimes.
