My cat gave birth to her first litter of 4 kittens 1 week 6 days ago, the runt died the first night, and we lost a second 3 nights ago. They were riddled in fleas when we checked, and took the remaining 2 to the vets that day and both kittens and mum have been treated for fleas and worms and they are now free of them. We have been advised by the vet to feed the kittens 1-2mls of kitty formula every hour and have been doing so from a syringe. The girl is doing great and is back to feeding off mum, has her eyes open and is growing fast! The boy however will not feed off mum, he seems too weak.. Does not have his eyes open, and is considerably smaller than his sister. A few days ago they were both the same size. The mother cat is still cleaning/toiletting them both.

This past hour, our little boy kitty's breathing has changed, he seems to be making more of an effort to breathe, and is breathing through his mouth, he has no other symptoms.
We are due to see the vet again on a Tuesday (Sunday eve now), but I need some immediate advice for the little boy.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Ugh, I am so so sorry! I know how you are feeling. I also lost a little one about 2 weeks ago. I only had him for a day but it's insane how attached and how much love you can have for something that you've only known for a short while.

I blame myself for his death but only because it was. His mother laid on him and smothered him. I shouldn't have let her in there!

However with you it was not your fault! Sometimes these things do happen and no matter how much care you give them they just dont make it. Sometimes they aren't developed fully and you don't find out till later on. I sent you a PM with advice about him and even though he has passed maybe it will help with the one that is left. I wish you the best of luck.

I am sorry you lost two kittens. I have never raised any kittens, so I can't offer suggestions. But others will be along to help you if you have questions regarding the kitten you have left. Good luck.
