My happy place.
UPDATE: Well our little friend disappeared and we didn't think he was comming back and that was back in June. We were outside eating one evening when my two girls ran to the bottom of the garden and jumped onto the shelf by the back gate and then Mr white (that's what we nicknamed him) appeared over the top! We were so happy to see that he was ok, he had lost a lot of weight though. He has been visiting every day since and been sleeping in his kennel. For the past week we have been letting him into the enclosure for an hour every day and everything is working out so well. He will come for a fuss and rub round our legs and my girls are totally at ease with him. Yesterday I was sanding down a dressing table and he came and sat by me. We are going to take him to be fixed first week of October (unless he disappears again) and a few weeks after that may start to let him into the kitchen to be fed. The three of them already eat together outside. I want to take things really slowly as I don't want him to feel the need to spray anywhere. I hope we are doing the right thing!

Lovely update- thank you. It sounds like Mr. White (and you) have gotten a second chance. I think perhaps he'd been spooked by the encounter with your neighbor's cat. Hopefully, things will work out this time. Do have him checked first before you let him spend time with your two. He may have germs they haven't met yet!

I'm glad to hear Mr White is doing OK. Once you get him neutered he'll probably stop wandering and hang around your place more regularly.

Lots of vibes for a clean bill of health.

UPDATE:
At last! We have finally been able to get Mr White to the vet. He has been in our garden for the past three days now so we called the vet and booked him in. After my last post and the advice from you guy's I decided that it probably wasn't a good idea to let him in the enclosure with my two until he had been checked by the vet. This I found hard after letting him in because he would cry to come in but I didn't want my girls exposed to anything he might have.
As he is a stray my vets are going to board him tonight and he will have his op (to be neutered) tomorrow and also be boarded tomorrow night too.
They are also going to check him over and vaccinate him.
After biting both me and my husband I was really worried about getting him into a carrier but although he struggled and fought he never once hissed, scratched or bit my hubby and was such a good boy in the car on the way to the vet.
I will post again on Friday once we have picked him up. Hopefully all goes well for the little guy.

I'm just now reading this thread. Sounds like he has adopted you, as many do! (& mine did)  I'm so glad you are taking care of him. I hope he checks out well at the vet's. It's great that your girls were okay w/ him the way they were. Most have to be integrated slowly with the existing cats. They probably got used to him visiting over time, & sense he didn't act like an alfa w/ them, the energy was laid back. The attack on your hand does probably sound like he might have felt threatened that you were standing over him. That makes sense anyway.  I look forward to reading more updates.

Just a quick update.
Just got in from work and called the vet about Mr White, everything has gone well and he didn't scratch or bite anyone either. They are boarding him again tonight to make sure he is fully over the anaesthetic and hubby will pick him up tomorrow at 10am.

Well before we picked Mr White up from the vet we brought his kennel into the enclosure and got two litter boxes ready (one litter and one soil). We thought he might be more inclined to use soil as he is a stray.
Our plan was to keep him in the enclosure overnight so that he had time to calm down and adjust to his surroundings again after his ordeal and the vet said that it was ok for my girls to be around him as he is fit and healthy.
When we brought him home everything was going fine, he had a bowl of food and slept for a couple of hours and my girls were fine with things. I don't think they were impressed with his smell though after him spending two days at the vet.
It got to late afternoon and he went and sat by the gate and was meowing to go out. We gave him some more food and he settled down again but after about half hour he wanted to go out again and we thought he probably wanted to toilet as he hadn't been all the time he'd been home and he showed no interest in either litter box. We tried putting him in each box but he was just hopping straight out again and going to the gate.
By this point he was getting a bit agitated and his tail was swishing and he started to climb the enclosure walls and then drop to the ground then go to another area and climb the wall and drop to the ground (the enclosure walls are chicken wire). He was doing this constantly and my girls were getting a bit freaked out by it and my Amber even hissed at Sasha!
We made the decision to open the door and let him out. We were afraid he would drive himself crazy trying to get out that he was going to hurt himself.
He didn't run away, he sat grooming himself for a bit and then hopped the fence and we haven't seen him since.
We have every hope that he will come back when he's hungry but we are just hoping he is ok and that his wound is ok. We just didn't know what to do for the best.

Oh no, I hope he is o.k. & comes back soon!  I would think it is too early to let him out on his own. I hope he doesn't bother with his sutures. Prayers that he is fine & will return to stay very soon!!

The vet said it was ok for us to let him out straight away but we wanted to keep him in for just one more night but I honestly think he would have injured himself by frantically trying to find a way to get out, we couldn't calm him down. :(

Well if the vet said it was okay, he should be fine. I just hope he doesn't associate your place w/ bad feelings now.
Yes, he should come back when he gets hungry, sense he had been already eating there.

Oh, & I'm glad to hear he got a good bill of health from the vet!

He came back, he came back!! Woo hoo! We were just getting ready to go up to bed and were getting the two girls in from outside when Mr White came over the fence! I can't tell you how pleased we are to see him!
We gave him a good petting and a check over and everything is good. He looks better than yesterday. Hopefully he will sleep in his kennel tonight like he has been.
Will post again soon.

He spent the night in his kennel as far as we know, he is still there now. Hopefully things will go back to how they were before and we can start letting him in again to spend time with the girls without them all freaking out.
I forgot to mention that we were talking with our neighbour across the street (the lady with the cat Mr White had a fight with) and was telling her all about getting him neutered and she gave us money towards the vet Bill. How sweet was that!
When we looked at the breakdown of the vet Bill we noticed that we hadn't been charged for the pain medicine or the two night boarding, we only paid for the op and his shots. I think they might have wavered these things because he was a stray. We are so fortunate to have such a lovely vet practice. Our vet is a 'cat man' and has quite a few of his own.
Oh and the vet said that he is a mature senior cat probably somewhere around 8 or 9 years old.

Aww, That's ALL great news!  So glad he came back. That was very sweet of the neighbor to chip in toward the bill, & for the vet to not charge for everything. Yes, he probably did that because you were helping out/rescuing a stray. Wonderful news!

Well Mr White has been in our garden since he came back but he seems to be off his food. He used to gobble his food but now just sniffs it, eats a couple of mouthfuls and then walks away??
I called the vet and they said that without examining him they can't tell what's up which I understand. He looks fine, his neuter is looking great.
We are going to monitor him closely and will take him back to vet if there is no improvement but even getting him a carrier is stressful for him.
We have thought about getting him in the spare bedroom but we feel really bad for our girls because that is where they chill, they have a cat tree and wall shelves and its where they sleep at night.
Oh what to do!!

We're quite attached to him but him biting me has made me a little nervous, I didn't realise that cats bit (it was definitely no nip) like that when they got exited. Mine have never done anything like that. I've been going over what happened and I'm thinking maybe he didn't like me leaning over him to get the bowl, he might of felt cornered in some way like I was going to pick him up, I dunno. Anyway hubby is feeding him and I still talk to him when I'm in the garden with my two so we're taking things nice and slow and will see where things go from there.
My feral boy was born wild and his mother left him at a young age. Today he is 4 years old and unfortunately declawed(I had to or put him down). He was sooo wild, he never stopped attacking my dad who was 89 years old. Today he is still biting. He will follow you like a dog and sit next to you. But you never know when he might bite. He does NOT like being petted or picked up unless you have a bowl of food you can do anything then. He bites hard, after 4 years my 92 year old dad will not touch him. I have to be careful also. My female cat can't stand him and wants to go into garage when she sees him. However, my two little old dogs are his best friends. They eat and sleep next to each other. They are all about the same size!
