One of my indoor cats tested positive for Bartonella. He is 11 and never had a full blood test until now. Our other indoor cat does not have it.
The vet suspected he got it in the animal shelter because besides that he never had physical contact with other cats.
He is a carrier but isn't showing signs.
Also what is the risk to people, we have been scratched by him many times is this something we need to be tested for?

He is given azithromycin once per day for 10 days, then another 10 days.

Can anyone offer advice about this and what I should look for in my cat, and myself.
