My cat Molly has CKD (stage 1) I’ve been feeding her Pro Plan Urinary care as it’s the lowest phosphorus commercial food that I can find in my area (she refuses vet food)

But she’s starting to go off that food and the only other canned food that she REALLY likes is fancy feast so I want to start rotating fancy feast into her diet maybe a few cans a week give her some variety

I’ve been looking around online to try and find the phosphorus information on the different fancy feast varieties but all the food charts I can find are fairly out of date and a lot can change in a few years with pet foods..

Is there an up to date list out there somewhere?

Or if I were to contact fancy feast directly to try and get some updated information what exactly would I need to ask for?

Thanks for any advice!

Here is a link to Lisa Pierson's article about cat food. She has a section about "Contacting Pet Food Companies".
You're right, cat food ingredients can change pretty regularly, and my understanding is that they do not need to change the nutritional labeling until they have exhausted the current supply. Dr. Pierson's chart is from July 2012.
think the best way of getting reliable information is to call the company. When I was feeding canned food (I now fed raw), I did email several companies requesting additional information. I believe Fancy Feast replied to my inquiry--unlike some of the other companies.

If you are having trouble finding a low phosphorus food, can you ask your vet for a phosphorus binder to give your kitty? When my Buddy was first diagnosed, our vet told us that it was more important to get him eating, and gave us a liquid; he gets .08 ml before each meal.  His phosphorus levels have been in the normal range for the last 2 months.  I almost drove myself nuts trying out wet foods, finding the ones recommended on that chart, etc.  I found it ironic that a great deal of the very lowest in phosphorus were the Science Diet varieties, which don't have a good reputation on here.

Good luck with your kidney kitty!

If you contact Fancy Feast, you want to know how much phosphorus is in their food on a Dry Matter Percentage Basis.  That's what's important.   My Kidney cat only likes Fancy Feast too, and unfortunately, the CLASSICS are way too high in phos, so now I've got her eating the ones that are WAY to high in carbs, but are much lower on phos.  At this point, though, just getting her to eat anything is the ticket.

If you can get your cat to eat egg whites, you can try adding them to her food, which adds good protein without adding much phosphorus at all, thus reducing overall the amount of phos in her food.  I did this for awhile with the FF CLASSICS, until my little girl started refusing to eat it with the egg whites in it.  And, as BuddyBellaMom stated, you can always ask your Vet for a phosphorus binder if you find a food Molly really likes that's too high in phos.

BTW, in answer to your original question, I don't know of any food charts any newer than Sept 2012

Thank you so much for all your replies!

I never knew about the egg whites I will definitely try that I have given her eggs in the past but I can't remember if she ate the whites..

My vet didn't mention anything about phosphorus binders but I will ask him the next time I'm in, I'm taking my kitten in to get chipped next week so I can make an appointment for Molly then if I need too

I'm going to try contacting Purina on Monday and I will share the new nutritional info if they give me any hopefully they do :)
