I found that my cat really enjoys Felidae, and she's been eating it a few months now.  I couldn't locate any recently, so got some Canidae, and mixed the two, so she could get used to the Canidae.  I just opened a new bag of Canidae now, and she's not thrilled with it.  It seems to not have the same aroma from the last bag.  So, now I'm all confused!  Felidae is gone? Maybe they changed the Canidae formula so it's not as tasty as before?  Should I take the bag back?  buy a bag of something I know she'll eat, and mix them?  We're talking $25 worth of food.

argh.

She also gets Fancy Feast, daily, so maybe this is how I might break her of her kibble love, but I'm not convinced that a little crunchy food along with canned food is such a bad thing.  She is very good about drinking her water.  Anyway, has anyone else noticed Felidae disappearing from the shelves?

They decided to call Felidae "Canidae for cats" now :/. I didn't know they changed the formula; I thought it was just the name. You could call/email the company and ask them if they made any changes.

When I was at the store, they did have one last bag of Felidae, but it had a "best before" date that was this month.  I should probably go back and see if it's still there.  I did compare the protein/fat numbers, and they were different, but bought the Canidae Pure Elements with Chicken anyway.

Not only are the protein/fat/carb values different, but the Cat food has essential added Taurine, and the Dog food does not.

Cat food is typically higher quality than dog food, hence the price difference. Cats have more specific needs and if fed dog food over long periods can become deficient in some nutrients.

Cat:

Chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, potatoes, peas, chicken fat, lamb meal, natural flavor, menhaden fish meal, minerals (zinc proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, zinc sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, manganous oxide, sodium selenite), vitamins (vitamin E supplement, niacin, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin A supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, folic acid), choline chloride, DL-methionine, taurine, dried enterococcus faecium fermentation product, dried lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried lactobacillus casei fermentation product, dried lactobacillus plantarum fermentation product, dried trichoderma longibrachiatum fermentation extract, mixed tocopherols (a source of vitamin E)

lt lists it as minimum  0.15% taurine

This is about the canned variety, not the dry, Canidae All Life Stages Formula and states:
Canidae All Life Stages Formula, formerly known as Felidae Cat and Kitten Formula, is a good quality cat food despite the presence of some grain. Several top sources recommend Canidae All Life Stages as one of the best canned cat foods you can buy.
Ingredient quality

Lots of different meats -- but brown rice and carrageenan are controversial. Canidae All Life Stages Formula is the new name for Felidae Cat and Kitten Formula, but nothing else about the food has changed.

Just to clarify, I'm not feeding the cat the dog version of Canidae, but the cat version.

Or, at least I tried to feed her that.  I ended up returning the Canidae Pure Elements and picked up what looked to be the last bag of Felidae they had on the shelves.  When I talked to the store manager, she said their computer showed they'd still be getting more Felidae, which contradicts what I saw on the Canidae website, which is that they have nothing named "Felidae" in their product lists any more.
