Is anyone presently using Flea Free liquid or Diotemaceous Food Grade as a preventative measure with your feral cats/colonies? If so, what

daily dosage are you administering to each individual cat? Mine are fed with individually staged feeding bowls. Have you found such methods

to any degree beneficial? My sincere thanks for any feline feedback on this subject

For de-worming or de-fleaing, I use a crushed-up worming pill or Capstar in their food. I've never used DE internally, but if you know where they sleep and hang out you could dust it around there.

Thanks, Willowy. I will look into Capstar moving forward. Is it safe to dust DE inside of the shelters or just around the surrounding area?

Are you able to get close to any of your ferals--close enough to apply Frontline on their shoulder blades while they're eating? This is what I do with my outdoor feral. I think Capstar only works for 24 hours. It kills the fleas within an hour or two, but cats who are outside will get re-infested pretty quickly. I use Frontline flea and tick killer because it protects against ticks--which can be a real problem for ferals--as well as fleas. It also gives protection for 30 days. If you order it from Amazon, you get it for less than half of what it costs tolpurchase it from Walmart, Petsmart, or a veterinarian's office. I've never heard of the food you mentioned that helps prevent fleas. Can you tell me more about it?

Hi

We have used Capstar to kill the immediate adult fleas and have the kittens on a monthly dose of Program which we give them in a spoon of Gerbers #2 baby food--chicken and chicken gravy in our case---

Is Program suspension for cats back on the market? Where are you getting it?

I ordered it through Amazon  I believe----I think the order is routed to a company in South Africa as the directions are in English and Afrikaans
