Drugs?

Just wondering if anyone else has given their own cat "Elval" for spraying disorders, and what kinda results you have had?

I am kinda surprized that NO one has an opinion on the drug "Elavil" for male cat spraying disorders?

Sorry, I have never used drugs to stop spraying problems. I neuter if they aren't neutered and then try and reprogram their behavior if they are still a sprayer.

Thanks for your response to my question I have posted a while back that I have an inbreed male cat named "Uncle Louie" that was rescued by me 6 years ago. I had him neutered about 5 1/2 years ago........two different vets could only find one testicle <SP I have been dealing with the spraying issue on and off since I love him to death and only want what is best for the animal. Louie has been cut open 2 times looking for that one missing testicle and both vets came away kinda frustrated Just curious if anyone else has used the drug Elavil.........

when my cat was neutered they coould only find one testicle as well...but the vet found that the 2nd one had dropped down towards his abdomin....the vet said that is something they see every once and awhile

Ow that poor kitty to have to go twice under the knife. How bad does he spray? Have you considered maybe going holistic and using a flower remedy instead of drugs?

He is spraying daily and 3 times in front of me on the wall in the past week I took him to the vet a couple of days for a checkup and he collected urine to be sent to a lab. Everything is normal. The vet said it is "behavior" I have been dealing with this spaying issue on and off for the last 5 years of so. 3 different vets have checked him over this time.....and none found a thing wrong with him. I am seriously thinking of putting him down if the Elavil does not help control his spraying soon. I am about out of options with Uncle Louie unfortunately.

When I took Oscar in for his neutering the vet could only find one of his testicles. He had to be cut open his stomache and do exploratory surgery to find the other one.

It was hidden around his kidney area. Poor Oscar was pretty sore for a couple of days and it was hard to keep him from jumping on anything. The worst thing was when he popped a stich and was bleeding from the incision. Anywho I was on another forum and asked if anyone knew what to do for him since I couldn't reach my vet at that time. I was referred here to The CatSite and have been here ever since(Great place ).

Sorry for the rambling but as for the drug I have never heard of it so no help there.
