I adopted a ragdoll cat 2 days ago. He is already two years old. I admit his transfer from his old home towards our home might be very stressful. We live in a tropical country and it is summer. I think he travels a total of 4 hours that day.

When he got home, every one was amazed on him. He ate a little and i understand that maybe he is adopting in our house. Yes he is shy. He always hide under the sofa. Sometimes in our comfort room he stay. He ate but only little. His first use of litter box is yesterday, around 3pm.

This morning around 3am he uses again the litter box, and his poops are normal. This morning around 10am he uses again the box. The problem is his poops are so soft like a drop of fluid. It is yellow in color. Also this day, around 6pm he uses again the box and again it is soft, yellow in color, like a paint that drop in the sand.

Is this due to stress he got in travelling? Or a serious sick? Thanks..

Hi,

Changing food and the move can both cause this although often its a change to wet food that causes diarrhea in cats.  A quality wet food and a better dry food will help him in the long run, and adding a very gentle wet food to his diet can actually help, and will help keep him hydrated, an issue with diarrhea.

If he will eat it, human baby food chicken stage one is very gentle on his system.  Also, he should initially be on the same exact food he was on before you brought him home.

Given that you just brought him home from a place (shelter/breeder/pet store) all of these places are breeding grounds for fecal parasites that cause diarrhea and can be serious if untreated.  He needs a vet visit, and you should bring a fecal sample.

Where did you get him and did they give you any medical history?
