I think family all close together like that sounds fantastic for Aimee and her little brother or sister on arrival, and she will be used to new babies when her one arrives so I am sure she will be great and very excited whether there are some aspects about growing up she finds challenging or not.  She sounds like she has such a positive and confident disposition.
If she didn't exert herself and do the occasional sit down protest I think everyone would get worried!

Older siblings can be just as great, it all depends on family and how they feel about their role I suspect.  I have one brother 6 years older than me who I idolised when I was a child. Aparently he insisted on having all his friends round for a party to celebrate the day I was brought home - I can feel my mother's pain at that even now!
She did it too!   There are many in my older brother's wife's family with very wide age gaps and they are also close to each other, simply in different ways.

I have a big age gap with my sister and said I'd never do that with my own kids. I'm 27, my sister is 20. We did not get along at all as kids, and just have started to get closer in the last few years.

My sister and I are 2.8 years apart and weren't close at all. We've got closer since our parents died.
My kids are 2.9 years apart. They're quite close but now they have their own families but they get together every so often besides seeing each other here on Fridays.

Aimee looks so cute feeding her baby!  We gave DD some toys like that for her birthday while I was pregnant with DS.  I found a little set that had a diaper, bottle and some hygiene products and came with a baby tub.  Plus a stroller.  She had so much fun with those and she was a great helper while I'd bathe DS after he was born.

My 4 step-siblings have always been closer to who they are closest to in age; even though it's boy, girl, boy, girl for birth order.  The oldest 2 are 18 months apart and the youngest 2 are not quite 14 months apart.  I was never close with any of them as kids and didn't have siblings so I envied that.  Not that they didn't fight too.

My 2 are 2yrs 4months apart and it worked out well.  We have more problems with sharing now.  DD did really good with DS.  I think it helps he couldn't get right into her toys till he'd been around for a while.
Today was "fun" because DS just received a little train set for his birthday and big sister wants it all for herself.
  It's a work in progress I guess!

Atleast...the name Cocoa is different from the name "Dolly"...which was my doll's name as a kid.

  Aimee, has a better imagination....lol.
I like Cocoa!  One of my DD's favorite baby dolls is named "Baby Baby."  She also has "Brother Baby" that my friend gave her while I was pregnant (its actually dressed in blue to. lol).  Aimee definitely with the creativity award for naming here!

Oh; the only myths that were true for me were that DD had a ton of hair at birth and I had more horrid heartburn with her.  DS had less hair, then had "baby pattern baldness" but now has thicker hair than DD.  Go figure.  The other was that I carried him more like a ball.  With DD I was wider.  DS was like a huge round beach ball.
My BFF was wider with her first but her son was like a torpedo.  Strange the things they do to our bodies!
For some reason I never got around to doing the baking soda test or anything else.  I drank OJ on my way to the appointment for the ultrasound so he'd be moving around and hopefully give us a good look at the gender!  There was no doubt.

I should try helping her give her baby a bath and put a diaper on it. I just want her to be as prepared as possible because it's going to be a big change from having all of my attention every day.

I've tried a bunch of the wives tales, all of the ones that are safe anyways. I won't try bleach or drano because that just seems like the fumes would not be good to inhale. I plan to drink OJ before my appointment too. If I drink OJ, the baby moves around a lot. I learned the hard way last week not to drink it and then go to bed. The baby was bouncing around so much, I couldn't sleep. I'm so nervous for my ultrasound because the ultrasound technicians are not allowed to tell you the gender here. I will have to call my doctor the following week, but then I don't actually get to see the boy or girl "parts" and I feel like I won't believe them because I can't see it for myself.

Just saw on Facebook that my husbands cousin had her baby about 3 hours ago. He's so cute and weighed a lot less than they thought. They told her she would have about a 10 pound baby, he was 7 pounds 5 ounces.

50 years ago my mom had 4 kids in five years ( I think I'd throw myself off a bridge!
) My kids are 2.5 years apart, a girl and a boy, and never did get along, they STILL fight! I always wanteda big family like the Walton's, but said enough at two, oh well!

Great news!  All well I hope, and that you all get to go see them very soon and Aimee falls instantly in love with the new baby.

Oh man that would drive me bonkers waiting!!  With DD I was so nervous about it being wrong the tech looked again for me.
There was a little part of me that stayed nervous until her birth too.  With DS; there was no doubt.
We get to watch the whole thing.  Our hospital has basically a big TV screen up on the wall for you to watch it all.  The only one I didn't get to see was the very last one because that was to determine if I needed to deliver now or in the morning.
One friend of mine still gets a kick out of the fact that THAT was the first thing on the screen as soon as the tech started her ultrasound.  She said everyone burst out laughing.  Some friends of ours are expecting their 4th in a few months.  They did a gender reveal party where they had a cake made at a bakery and the inside of the cake was either green or pink.  They party had a Pink or Camo theme and people wore what they thought it would be.  It was pink; for the 4th time.
She had to wait a whole week for that party too; I would not have had the patience!!

Too cute!  Bonded already. That newbie is going to know all about Aimee by the time of the big arrival: the sound of her voice, her breathing and her touch: how cool.

I was sick the whole time with my daughter, but I heard both ways on the morning sickness. I craved spicy foods.

Funny thing about the spicy foods. At my shower they had one of those games where they make a crossword puzzle out of things about you. One question was what made you sick (sweet potatoes, can't eat them to this day, and my DD is 9), and what did you crave. When I said the answer was spicy, my friend looked at me really seriously and said. "Oh, no." Then proceeded to tell me you can't eat spicy food during your pregnancy, because it will burn the babies eyes.

Since most of the world eats a much spicier diet than I do, I wasn't too worried. DD's vision seems ok, definitely better than mine.

That's a new one to me!  Some of the old wives tales are pretty amusing!

...with the cats...
she's very cute!

something that helped my niece when her baby brother came along and mommy's attention had to be shared -- when mommy would be changing K's diapers, my niece would do peek-a-boo for the baby to distract him. this helped mommy a lot, because the baby would cry while his diapers were changed but not when my niece did peek-a-boo for him -- he'd laugh then.

This is such a beautiful photo of Aimee, you, and baby.....@catlover19

Some more questions, then, unless I already asked and cannot remember.

Does Aimee like to play with any trucks, cars, or building blocks?

Does Aimee like sporting toys like balls, nerf balls, or favourite teddy bears?

Hey, @MoochNNoodles....okay, so some work may be progressing on the "sharing" front.
I don't blame your daughter for wanting to "quality control test" the new toy for your DS.  It may have pieces missing that you would not have seen at first.....

Those myths are funny and interesting, but a few I can actually see as being somewhat scientific....

(ahh...that baking soda test is one I never heard about....so I have to now ask my friends why they didn't try it, too...

She loves playing with trucks and cars. She has some blocks, but prefers to throw them rather than play with them.
She loves to kick and throw balls around too but the neighbours dog keeps popping her balls.
Her favourite teddy bear is the one that says "I was born at McMaster Children's Hospital." She got it just a few days after she was born and she sleeps with it now.

Not eating spicy food because it will burn babies eyes is definitely a new one. I can't even see why someone would think that, it's not like the baby is just floating around in your stomach where the food goes.
