Hello, I'm new here and hopefully I will be able to get seen by my vet tomorrow morning but I wanted to get some type of feed back concerning my cat from someone (anyone) who knows cats.

My kitten is about 7 months old. Last Tuesday she (6 days ago) I had her spayed. She stayed overnight at the vet and I picked her up on Wednesday evening (around 630 or so). When I picked her up I noticed that the incision area looked red (very similar to what is is now actually). They told me to keep an eye out for redness (it was already red kinda) and if it got swollen to come back.

I did keep her as "quiet & still" as possible for the first 24/36 hours being home but she is very active (hyper) and I work full time so there was no real way to watch her 24/7.

She wore the cone of shame for 48 hours like they suggested i do and I took it off on Friday night. She isn't in any pain, to the contrary she is active and playful like nothing is wrong. She still has a ravenous appetite and is drinking water as normal.  I cant emphasize enough that this kitten is active. She jumps and climbs up onto everything and there is no way to keep her down without locking her in a carrier which is inhumane (seeing as how I work 8-10 hours a day).

The incision is not hot to the touch, it feels the same as the area surrounding it.

The redness is a little brighter than what it was on day one but we are only on day 6 technically. It is a little puffy (raised) - I tried to hold a warm compress to her to try to reduce the swelling and this is the best that it has gotten. They told me they did a laser surgery and used a cold laser afterwards to help facilitate healing. The wound is not draining that i can tell it just looks ... well, super red!

When I touched it, the raised area felt firm or solid like scar tissue or a knot of some type and she got a little testy with me but it really didn't phase her. As soon as i released her to the ground she started playing with her toys like everything was fine.

Because I'm all paranoid I just put the cone back on and now she is running around more hyper than ever so... yeah, the cone isn't slowing her down if being hyper is causing the incision to look this way.

If it is infected what happens next? Any thoughts/ opinions are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!

The first pic she is kinda stretched out on my lap (actually she is biting the hand not holding my phone, the flash is on so the contrast might be higher than normal. The second pic she was sitting on my lap and i lifted her "arms" up and snapped a photo - this is why the bulge is at the bottom - she is a little chunky because she likes to eat. You can see a slight swelling or raised bump region better in in the first pic i think.

It doesn't look infected, but it shouldn't look open-ish.  I'd definitely get her to the vet.

In the bottom photo, in the center of the incision, is that yellow crusty stuff? It is hard to tell from the photo. I agree with stephanietx, it doesn't look infected, but it doesn't look right, either. The part of the incision at the lowest point looks too open and really red for 6 days out. I'd go in for a check.

Did she actually have stitches?  or was the incision glued shut?

I agree that it doesn't look right for nearly a weeks worth of healing.

That lump is from swelling and stitches on the inside. As long as it is not hot to the touch and is not having a green or yellow discharge it is fine. It really looks normal to me.
