Arthur Pendragon 7/3/1994-4/22/14

Hi!  I am new to this site, but not to cats...I am an experienced(20+ yrs) cat foster mom. I am a registered STNA attending school for RN with concentration on Oncology and Hospice/Palliative care. I specialize in critical care/special needs newborn and orphaned kittens with and extremely high survival rate.I also study holistic/alternative treatments for pet cancer and I am a second degree Reiki practitioner with emphasis on traumatized/abandoned animals. I recently lost my best feline fur friend, Arthur Pendragon, to SCC of the jaw. He was my light and my inspiration and he passed from this plane on 4/22/14, just 3 months shy of his 20th birthday. I am devastated at his loss, but hope to carry on as a foster mom in his honor(he too was once my foster after his mama was hit by a car when he was but a few days old). I believe that we, as human beings, are the designated caretakers of this planet and, as such, we have a duty to protect and care for our animal brothers and sisters when they are unable to care for themselves. I try to be a point of light both in human health care and in the animal rescue world. I believe that no animal should suffer because their owner does not have the funds to take them to the vet and am constantly working with others to help rescue/treat and aid those who are unable to do for themselves. I hope to learn and grow from this site, and to meet others who are like-minded...Namaste'

Welcome to TCS devoted2cats.  I am confident you will find many like minded people here, and will have much to share with fellow foster parents.

I am sorry for your loss of Arthur Pendragon and wish you well in your plans to continue with fostering in his memory.  I hope to see you posting more around the site and to hearing about any new family as your foster plans progress.

Welcome to TCS!  I'm so sorry to hear about your Arthur Pendragon. He was a beautiful cat--both inside and out.

I mean to say Thank You All for the condolences..he was a wonderful and loyal friend. I just was contacted by both Alley Cat Allies and PAWS Ohio and filled out foster contracts for both organizations, so we should be sharing new foster stories soon...Thinking about starting a Black Cat Rescue/Foster Networking page on Facebook with his mane as a memorial...anybody think that's a good idea?

As a side note, we adopted 3 fosters from one litter we rescued with PAWS(I became a proud PAWS Ohio volunteer shortly after this post)...Black male twins(Arthur Pendragon II and his brother Uther Pendragon) and their sister (Guinevere) who is black and white. They healed the hole left by Arthur Pendragon I's passing and we are proud to have played a part in their rescue. They were born on 4/27/14 and were 3 days old when we rescued them(via PAWS) from a balcony in an apartment complex in Parma, Ohio. The mother was feral. We love them deeply and they are treated like royalty. Arthur II can be seen at 5 weeks old in my profile picture.
