Hello!

Hi Everyone, 

I am new to the forums! I recently got a new kitten and have named him Sirius after the Harry Potter character. He's adorable and playful and I am in love already! He is my first cat since I was a child and I have some questions! Especially as the vet has assessed that the rather unscrupulous seller sold him to me at 6 1/2 weeks    He's 9 weeks now and growing well, but does seem to have some anxiety issues

I'm pretty new here too. This site is wonderfull and I'm sure you will find your way around pretty quickly, you will find lots of people who are able to help and advise you on your kitty with anxiety. Try looking on the cat health or behavior forum.

Welcome to the site! You've come to the right place for any troubles, there's a LOT of experience here. 6.5 weeks is too young to be away from mom, he can grow up physically OK, but socially it's above that age when mom and his littermates teach him all he needs to know, like what is appropriate in play ( no hard biting!), and everything a cat needs to know. So now YOU are the teacher! Anxiety issues may be from him being so young, and away from his cat family, so give him lots of love and make him feel secure. Some cats are just naturally 'jumpier' then others, I've got one excitable one and one that is extremely 'laid back'! The seller advertised the litter as 8 weeks and 4 days, but when I took him to the vet, she said there was no way he was over 7 weeks

Friendly reminder: don't forget to check his collar size every few days - kittens this age grow very fast
