So our mother cat tiger is trying to move her babies. There is a big hole broken out in the door so she can get in and out, but the dogs cant get in. The hole is up high. The kittens now  have there eyes open and shes trying to move them downstairs. This is a danger for the kittens since we have two dogs that love to chase birds squirrels ect. We have a chow chow shepherd mix and a chihuahua chinese crested mix. Tiger has tried to move two of her kittens, one in the washer and two in the middle of the kitchen floor. We moved them back but now when she tries to carry them and jump through the hole she is droppng them. We need URGENT help now! We do not want these week old kittens getting hurt!!!!!

Can you close the mum and kittens in one room, put a safety gate over it too and make sure food and litter tray all in the one room?

We tried closing the hole but she keeps on trying to jump through it and droping the kittens. She is only moving the same one kitten though. Ans everytime she tries to jump up there she drops the kitten and its like a 5 foot drop

Cover the hole up so she can't move them out of the room. Just keep them all in there, letting mom in and out when you can, if she wants.

we cant without the dogs getting to them. all the other doors dont have doorknobs and the dogs can get in/out freely. Shes moving them to the washer downstairs and so we are keeping them there for now.

Do you have a dog cage? Perhaps a carrier? Even a large box will work

She is moving them because she doesn't feel safe in that room.

What I would do is put her and the kittens in the dog cage, carrier or box. If it's a box I would tape it shut but cut a little door in the side. After you make the door poke holes on each side so that you can tie the door shut.
This should keep her from trying to jump and drop them ; )

I wish you the best of luck!

Oh and keep an eye on them in the enclosed area just in case she tries to lay on them as she can smother them.

I don't mean to double post but I don't know how to edit my first post?

I wanted to include a picture of a box that I made for my kittens/mother.

you're saying that tiger is only trying to move the same one kitten? i'd keep a very close eye on that one kitten. have you been weighing the kittens daily and keeping track of their weights? i'd make sure that one kitten is continuing to gain a minimum of 8-10 grams every day. my concern is that if momma cat is trying to move just that one kitten, that kitten may be ill or weak. if young kittens become ill, they can "go downhill" extremely quickly.  and it can be a natural instinct for momma cats to remove ill or very weak kittens from their siblings and momma cat, because if they were outdoors/in the wild predators would prey on the weak or ill kitten.

if that one kitten isn't gaining enough weight each day, then you could supplement with feeding it kitten milk replacement (KMR). if you need to know how to do supplemental feeding for the kitten, others here know all about how to do that. i know the basics, but only from what i've read here -- not from actual experience. there is a right and a wrong way to do the supplemental feedings for a kitten so young.

Sorry its been awhile since i updated the kittens, but i think you will like this one. The kittens are 4 weeks old now, and are turning 5 weeks in 3 days. They have there eyes open, running and playing around, and are just bundles of happiness. They all get in play fights and even momma cat joins in, chasing her kittens and pawing at them, After many weeks of updating there "playpen" the kittens now have a whole room for themselfs, fiilled with toys, boxes, blankets, and even a bed. (Dont worry. the kittens will not hurt themselfs gettings on/off the bed. we surronded couch cushins around it. They jump and run up the side of the bed:) ).Sorry for the poor pictures, but i dont have my phone on me, so these are taken with my laptop webcam. I also inserted a video of them playing :) watch till the end to see how funny they run and play XD Im keeping either bear of oliver (aka levi) But im leaning more towards bear.

Tobie taking a cat nap on one of the cushions.

 oliver (AKA Levi)

Bear with the nail polish on his tail, so we can tell him and Spyro apart.

VIDEO of all the kittens playing. Watch till the end. You are sure to smile!

Sorry, i couldnt get the video to work. Check the replies below soon.

Also!

The kittens are very well socialized, and have had contact with people, dogs, and other cats. Our chow chow GSD mix and chihuahua mix are terrified of the kittens, becuase all of the kittens  will stand up to them and hiss if they come in the other room. And as for other cats, Solo has been in the room and they just play with him, even though hes not their father. All the kittens and the mother are gettings spayed/nuetered june 21 (and their shots). They use the litter box and eat soft, wet, kitten food. ( And once Bear stole a peice of turkey off of my sub, but thats it!) All of the kittens have homes set also.Their eyes are starting to change color too!

Thanks :) ill be updating more soon!
