I am so distressed ..I noticed to 2 hard lumps on my 18 and a half year old Siamese female cats abdomen (on her nipples) and in just two weeks time there are 3 more lumps all growing fast on her abdomen and one under her right arm ..do you think this is most likely cancer? ..should I have her put to rest? ..I love her more than anything in this world ..I am disabled and on low income and can't afford to pay for a lot of test ..I will most likely have to hand her over to animal services which is just killing me ..every clinic I have phoned wants to do a number of expensive test to verify it is cancer before they will even talk about putting her to rest which I would find a way to pay if I believed there was a chance I could have her with me another year but at 18 and 2 months old and the preseance of the large fast growing lumps makes it seem most likely to me that it would be cancer and that I should have her put to rest? ..please give me some guidance fellow cat lovers ..should I find away to pay for all the test or with what I have told you about her is it most likely cancer and time for her to be put to rest ..she was in no pain when I first noticed the lumps but over the last few days she has taken a downward turn although she is eating ..she has slowed down considerably the last few days and her meow is starting to fade and all she does is sleep and I can tell she is starting to feel discomfort ..I don't want her to be in pain but I also don't want to lose her but I think its time ..I knew she was getting older and it was just a matter of another year or two if I was lucky before I would lose her but I really hoped when it was her time she would pass away peacefully in her sleep here in her home ..Am I doing the wrong thing if I have her put to sleep?

I don't know if you have a regular vet or not but I would make an appointment for a checkup.  You are talking to a receptionist rather than the vet.  If you take her in for a checkup then a vet will examine her and you can talk to him.  Testing is your choice.  If it is an aggressive cancer and she is beginning to suffer I don't think a vet will allow her to continue suffering.

Dear Distressed,

It more than likely is. Has your cat had odd behavior of late after using the litter box? Urinating outside of box? Or racing out of the box after a bowel movement? Weight loss? After trying every remedy to end this behavior without success I took him to my vet.  Like you I also could not afford the expensive  MRI & other tests. Fortunatly my vet is very capable. After blood work & feeling his underbelly my vet felt many lumps too. I  also had done my home work as to possible causes of this problem, & yes cancer is one cause. She advised that this is most likely cancer. Soon after I lost my love Scratch on valentines day  to cancer a couple of years ago. He was 17. I urge you keep doing everything to make him comfortable & happy until his quality of life takes a down turn.  Then please end his suffering humanly.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Crying with you

yes for about the last year she has been sticking her rear out the litter box when she pees ..she has been slowing down over the last year but i took that for growing old just over the last 3 days she has slowed down considerably and is sleeping a lot and her meow is not very loud ..she is thin but she has always been tiny ..i have noticed her balance has been off a bit now for about 2 months and its a bit of a struggle for her to get up on the bed but yet she can and she did eat this morning ..I will wait another day maybe 2 at the most and see if she passes on her own here in her home rather than stressing her out taking her to the vet and maybe her staying there and then end up passing away alone in a cage ,,I am really thinking it is her time ..her mother passed almost 2 years to the dated at the same age.

 she slept with me the last 2 night which she never does and when she lies down she has been going around in circles over and over before she will actually lay down and comfortable ..I love this little cat more than anything in this world and I will do whats right ..I really feel its cancer and its her time to rest ..I am going to wait a day or 2 and see if she goes on her own here at home in her bed on her blanket but at anytime if I feel she is in too much distress I will take her to the the vet ..she has been a part of my life for over 18 years and has brought so much joy to my life and I love her and I won't see her in pain

@distressed

The circling before sitting suggests she is having trouble getting comfortable and may be in pain.  I think she needs an exam or possibly pain meds to help her at this time.  I'm very sorry for you. :(

In time you will be able to celebrate all those wonderful memories but now it is just difficult and painful, and the loss hurts.   She had a great life and was loved until the end.  Perhaps when you're ready in the crossing the bridge forum you can post a photo of her for all of us to admire.

I'm so sorry you lost her so quickly. At least she passed peacefully with you at your home.
RIP. :rbheart:

This thread will be locked now. When you feel up to it, please post a tribute to her at The Bridge:
http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge
It can help with the healing process to share your loss with other cat lovers who understand and care. :hugs:
