hi @chalupa   thanks for the update. I wish it were better for your Chalupa.   Hopefully, the injections will help.

I think that story with that elderly woman is really cool.  It was meant to be, I think.  Its like from out of nowhere, a person stops, shares her story with you, and you probably made her feel better, too.  Since she had someone to share it with.  Its moments like these, that I find strangely surprising, too, but also like the timing was just right.

I don't know how to explain it.

You just reminded me about the lady I met in the parking lot of the grocery store, I went to after my cat passed.

It was daylight, but she was walking behind me from the store, and I turned and looked at her.  She must have thought I was angry...because she apologized for following me.  I told her no...it didn't bother me, but I was just lost in thought about my cat.  She told me about her neighbour's cat who just passed and how difficult it was for them, and then wished me well.  It was strange, so when I got home I told my mom and sister....how nice this person was.  I don't know.  It was unusual, too....just like the lady on the bike, for you.

take care and still sending your Chalupa and you extra vibes

Good vibes to you and Floppy and Spotty too!

chalupa still not doing so well, she had an iron dextran shot Sunday. Not sure how long that takes to kick in. Appetite not so good though will eat in very small amounts. Very lethargic I think. Although not yet to the point it is alarming. She was playing a little last weekend, small spurts if energy. This weekend she could do nothing was vomiting maybe stomach acid. Not sure if she did today, been at work. Not grooming, won't play at all although laying more comfortably past few days maybe. Before she would only sit up looking uncomfortable. Not sure what else can do. Got her going again last time.

Does Chalupa still sleep in her usual places?   Do you think she could be lethargic from the other meds the vet gave her?

I think that as long as she is eating and not hiding, and still using the litterbox, then she is still wanting to be here.  I guess you just have to spend time with her, but not tire her out, either.

Do you give her, her food and water close to where she is?

yes all the time although she never drinks water and wet food she looks at me like really, you're going to make me get up and cover this yucky smelling stuff with imaginary litter again? you just made me do this ten minutes ago, or something like that. She 's not eating enough but still trying a little. The dry food is helping her to nibble, will syringe feed her water later. Thanks, want her to feel better fast! Been syringe feeding her baby food everyday, maybe should skip a day to see if she will then eat on her own. How's your anipals?

"Anipals".
.....that is a cute word.  Dog Floppy needs to go to vet for routine vaccinations, and Spotty just had dental two weeks ago, but vet found that his kidney numbers were off, so I have to try out a prescription food for six weeks and see if his numbers improve.  I  guess at 14yrs old, I have to watch him more closely and should have had him on better food.

your cat needs water NOW

not later
@vetstat1   No need to worry about the water intake, since she is getting the best care.  If you read @chalupa's threads, you would know that her cat Chalupa is being well taken care of and chalupa  has done everything possible to make her comfortable.  It's supportive therapy now, and the quality of life is what is important.

Hi

So sorry Chulpa is not feeling well these past few days. To see them not feel well is so har, heart breaking really. Just keep an eye on Chulpa and keep taking the best care possible

I'm doing okay without my Tiger. I miss her like crazy. I think I see her coming around the corner, or find myself hurrying to close the door to the basement so she can't run down there or when I'm on the deck I keep listening for her meows saying "let me out too". I remember they were so annoying when I was sitting out there just trying to read or relax but boy do I miss them! :( I start thinking I'm a wackadoodle until I remember we were buds for 10 years and she saw me thru some major life events

I also keep getting sympathy cards in the mail from the vet, emergency vet, internist, etc. Very sweet but the final vet sent me her paw prints imprinted on a large print out of the Rainbow Bridge poem Unfortunately, they sent me two of them, both in the same envelope. Weird, right? Well, even weirder was One had 2 paw prints and the other had 3 paw prints! I'm pretty sure Tiger didn't have 5 paws! Ha! I had to laugh

Gee, I didn't mean to make this about me. Wanted to see how Chulupa was doing:wavey:

I really appreciate you sharing memories, experiance and such related to Tiger, it helps me too. I feel sad about Tiger and I miss her too and didn't even know her, keep seeing her face in my head from that photo you posted. I like this word wackadoodle, it's new for me. That is very nice what all the veterinary places did for you.

Chalupa has been weird lately just came home and she had thrown up by her litter box looks like bile maybe bit of old food and she had eaten some of what I left her this morning which is a good sign, fancy feast, the food that wins her over most when she gets picky, also left dry but didn't eat much if any. She's really weird meowing tonight, I mean they are a little longer, when I go near her, and she's pale looking, seems ok enough though, not hiding at least right now but sitting up with eyes half closed.

Hows your kitten, getting into trouble?

Hi @Rubydoo67  , How long does it take for a feral kitten to be undomesticated permanently? How long do they have to be alive as a feral I mean or all they all different? Will yours become domesticated or is there just no way of knowing? Sorry if these are dumb questions. The kittens name is Mitten?

Chalupa almost seemed to give up, stopped eating for a while, except few nibbles here and there, took it as she didn't want to do it anymore, definitely seems to feel sick after eating, must be awful. Gave her half the pred dose for past fours days now, 3rd day, seemed less nauseous, more energy and for some reason yesterday (3rd day) ate a lot (for Chalupa). Maybe the iron injection kicked in or the pred dose was too high. Today eating slightly less. Meows a little long though, jumping up and down from places, not hiding. Last night following me all over everywhere. Don't know what she wanted. Wonder if she senses I'm trying to separate from her.

I'm totally confused, one week seems dying, this week, seems like recovering. I have a friend texting me every weekend, 'when is enough enough?' "Don't wait until it's an emergency, don't be selfish.'

Aw, I'm sure I know it's hard just waiting and watching for this terrible outcome. I did notice Tiger became clingy a lot, seemed to be when she wasn't feeling her best. Looking back. She was quite clingy before I even knew there was a problem, I chalked it up to jealousy vs. my toddler. *sigh*. I know people say "you will know when the time is". I definitely did. You can go back and read the behavior. It was way out of character. It's good Chulupa can still jump up and down, near the end Tiger was missing the mark and then just could jump up at all after awhile

You have to do what's right for Chulupa, not based on what's right for you or what your friends think. It is a hard decision but now is the time to think rationally and have a plan for when that time does come. I'm so glad we had the emergency hospital option, don't know what I would have done if she had to suffer all weekend (though I think she wouldn't have made it). As much as I thought it would be better to be natural and at home, the stories I read were just horrible for the owner and the animal. Didn't want it to be like that

For the kitten (more like juvenile cat now), I've read it could take years for her to become tame/loving to us. I had someone tell me it was easier to tame an adult than a kitten. Not sure about it but I sorta believe it. You would think she sees us interacting with the other cats.....petting, lap sitting, etc and would know its safe but...... She does love brushing and will eagerly come for that. :). Her name is Swiper, not sure why Mitten came out, maybe from kitten. Ha!

Hope Chulupa hangs in awhile still.

Hi @chalupa.....I was reading over your post and what Rubydoo67 posted and I think her advice is the kindest in regards to your Chalupa.  Its the hardest decision to make, but the most important for your Chalupa, too. I don't really know when the time is right either, because it is so personal, and our cats often rally at the end, even when they are suffering so much.   But when they have more bad days, then good ones....then I think you will know.

It will never be easy, and second guessing will always creep in.  I think peaches08 mentioned on another thread how we can never really know what day is the right day.....that is so true.

StephenQ posted a phone number which is listed in the Crossing the Bridge Forum for those members who are facing this difficult decision.  I am not sure if you have seen it.  Its from the ASPCA.

here:   http://www.thecatsite.com/t/276461/for-those-wanting-to-talk-to-someone-the-aspca-grief-hotline

Still sending you prayers and positive thoughts for you and Chalupa.
