Recently, April 1st of this year I had to put down a homeless feral that I had been taking care of for almost 5 years. It was after 4 years that he finally trusted me enough to let me touch him. After 4 /1/2 years of surviving the wild his health got the best of him and he was in bad shape despite my efforts in trying to care for him at a distance. he ate the best food, had the care I could provide and he was the toughest cat I ever knew surviving 4 harsh cold winters, fights with other animals and cats his body just got tired.

I made the decision to not let him suffer anymore and was able to get him into my shed were I had animal control pick him up. I will always remember his last moments with me was a soft scratch on his badly diseased head which he rolled over. His rub up against my arm as I fed him. A moment I will never forget.

I took the responsibility for this cat that nobody wanted and just threw away and dedicated myself to giving him whatever happiness I could before it was time for Bastet to call him home.

I decided since he never had a "real" home I had him cremated and he now lays peacefully in my room where my other cat (who he was best friends with behind a screen door) can be with each other all the time now. I loved him very much. We formed a bond that most people cannot form with feral cats. I sensed he knew it was his time to go home that day and I pray each and every day I will see him again.

 His name was "Mau".

I made this video in honor of him but anyone who has lost a cat may use this video to remember their loved on. I hope it touches you as it does me. Let me know what you think. :)

UPDATED. Had a few mistakes on the last video revised it. It's now correct. Sorry!

This was "Mau" around the first year I found him as a feral.

Don't ever feel stupid trying to place a tribute to a beautiful cat who shared your love and had a place in your heart. What a beautiful, beautiful tribute! EVERYTHING was perfect, the video matching the song, the absolutely beautiful pictures of the cat, I LOVE the one of him peeking out from the flowers, that could be framed! Mau was a beautiful cat with a beautiful soul and he found you, a compassionate human that gave him love and kindness. You will be blessed for your kindness, and I'm sure Mau loved you too with all his heart. Please know I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Every time I see a beautiful sunset now I'll think of that video and know our dearly departed, both human and animal, are a part of that beautiful work of nature.  I want to thank you for sharing a job well done, I'm speechless. I'm also crying, it's that beautiful, and it made me think of my precious girl, Chrissy. Take care..... RIP beautiful Mau, and soar through the heavens on the wings of love!

That's a beautiful tribute to a lovely cat. Mau didn't pass away unnoticed, unloved and unmourned, thanks to you. RIP, little one. :rbheart:

I read that one belief is that if you ever find a strange black cat with a white hair it means good luck and you wouldn't believe all the luck my family has gotten. My wife finally got her old job back which she lost 3 years ago after 15 years of service because she was falsely accused of something. Things around here just seem to finally be on the upside and I believe "Mau" has everything to do with it. I practice Kemetic religion with a bit of neo paganism (nature spirituality) so I have a strong belief in Bastet. She has given me a purpose in life and has really helped me in so many ways it's incredible.

Thanks for all your comments, feel free to share with others you know as well!

That is a beautiful video tribute. He was with people on his terms which is ultimately what all kitties do.  I am sure he knew how much you cared for him and you gave him the last selfless gift.

I think karma has brought you good luck because you took care of that feral baby and gave him the only home he knew. It goes perfectly with your nature spirituality. I'm also sure Bastet has taken Mau into his heart and now surely good luck will follow you! Take care and rejoice in the love you shared with Mau.

I wanted to post his cremation because I believed since he never had a home he now has a real home and he gets to sleep in my bedroom with my other cat who was his best friend. Now he say he has a home which is why I decided not to spread his ashes.

Here is a photo of my other cat who he was best friend with though our screen door. they loved each other :)

Why does it not exist anymore? Can't you bury the remains.
